Hi I've just ordered some harvest berry flavour concentrate to mix with some 18mg unflavoured e liquid to start me off mixing my own. I like a relatively strong flavoured fruity vape so was wondering how many drops to add and does the flavour reduce the nicotine content?
Thanks Laurie

Yes the more flavour the more dilute the nicotine becomes, for instance I use 20% favouring normally so the Mic would be 20% more diluted (am not a maths genius but I believe that would make the mixture 13.5mg) I'm sure someone will correct me if I am wrong. Re how much to add, that is the tricky bit. The recommend way is you start low, say 5% let it steep for a few days (a week preferably) and then taste. If too weak add another few percent, and steep again, continue along that path until it is right for you.
However I tend to make 10mls at 20-25% and if I do not like it then tough! I am an impatient bugger!!!

xtc263 Most flavourings are PG based and unless otherwise stated contain no nicotine so any flavour, PG and VG that you add to your base Nicotine will dilute it. To get your percentages right I would advise you to use an ejuice calculator ... I use the "ejuice me up" calculator which is excellent and can be downloaded from here: ejuice.breaktru.com/ Recommended percentages for flavouring can vary widely between manufacturers .... This link will show recommended percentages for most manufacturers : spreadsheets.google.com/spreadsheet/pub?key=0AkX4_hQ6Fu8HdEwwR2dLRUJlVjlabEN1NG1ucktuUVE&gid=0Welcome to the world of mixology (the dark side) and good luck with your evil experiments

If you add 20% flavouring to 18 mg/ml strength it will become 15mg/ml strength.

If you add 20% flavouring to 18 mg/ml strength it will become 15mg/ml strength. If you add 20%to the liquid, that's correct, but you will then only have 16.67% flavour. If you add 2ml flavour to 8ml base, you will have 20% flavour but only 14.4mg/ml strength.

I have assumed adding 20%, but of course if we make final mix contain 20% then yes 14.4mg/ml

I'm kind of blowing my own trumpet here, but I've uploaded Super-Shiny's recipe to dot1ml (my own eliquid calculator). You should be able to adapt it nice and easily to your preferred nic strength (and/or PG/VG ratio) Here it is: dot1ml.com/mixer/446b4bb

Thanks for the advice guys. Sounds like an exact science and a bit complicated with all them %. None of the calculators tell u how much flavouring to add when u already have your unflavoured e liquid already made. So if I buy 18 mg and add flavouring depending on how much I add I'll end up with around 16 mg in nicotine. Which I can live with.

So if I buy 18 mg and add flavouring depending on how much I add I'll end up with around 16 mg in nicotine. Which I can live with. How good is your maths? It is quite easy to work out if you can do basic maths. Calculate the total nicotine you have. So lets say you start with 8ml of 18mg/ml strength. Then you have a total weight of nicotine of 8 x 18mg = 144mg. Now you add some flavouring and you add 2ml of flavouring. This now means you have a total volume of 8 + 2 = 10mlYou total weight of nicotine has not changed it is still 144mg. You work out the final strength by dividing the Nicotine total weight by the total volume. So you have 144mg / 10ml = 14. 4 mg/ml strength. Lets say you only added 1ml flavouring to say 7ml of 18mg/ml nicotine base. The total nic = 126mg, (letting you work out the calculation this time...oh ok, its 7 x 18) total new vol = 8ml, (7+1) therefore new strength is 15.75mg/ml (126/8)

I bought 60/40 18 mg unflavoured e liquid so I could just add the flavouring to it to see how i get on first. Don't want to get into mixing nicotine pg and vg just yet.

I just let the ejuice me up calculator do the hard work! ???

This is a mix of 18mg nicotine in a 60/40 PG/VG base. All nicotine base comes in various strengths of nicotine mixed in various combinations of PG/VG (most usually all PG or all VG). So yours DOES contain nicotine.

(Although you're not actually combining nic bases) As mentioned previously, if you want 20% flavour (which is the norm), your strength will be 14.4mg/ml - can you live with that? Or can you live with less flavour?
