I didn't, I'll be honest. I was forced into trying vaping just to get my non smoking hubby off my back. I never thought it would work, a part of me hoped it wouldn't as I'd had a 30year relationship with cigs and didn't really want to say goodbye.
It's as though I quit by accident really and I am over the flipping moon to be honest. I found switching a struggle in the physical, mental and finding the right equipment sense but deep down I must have known it was worth it, and that I could switch over if I just trusted all of you and your cheerleading of vaping.
I would never in my wildest dreams thought it would replace my cigs but I'm flipping glad it has!
What's your story?

I started with E-Lites. I had high hopes.... then my world fell apart and even my wife wanted to leave. Once I got a Riva kit, I knew it was only a matter of time. Got to love those little plastic sticks.

I quit by accident! I initially bought a cigalike with the intention of putting it in my cig packet to replace the odd ciggy as a cost-saving stunt. I quickly found I was using the cigalike more and more and the fags less and less. Then one day I realised I'd forgotten to smoke. The rest, as they say, is history. I still have an unopened packet of Marlboro in my vape cupboard. Not as an emergency pack, but just so I can smile when I see them in the knowledge that I bought them and then forgot they were there

Hi Siffy. I started vaping back in June not with intention of quitting completely but with the idea of cutting down, I was smoking 200 grams of golden Virginia a week and it was getting expensive. I started with a couple of ego-t and ce4s but soon moved on to MVP and iclear 30 tanks. I have not had a stinkie since the end of July time and to tell the truth I don't miss them one bit. My breathing is better, I can taste food again and neither myself or my clothes stink like ashtrays anymore. Time will tell though but in the meantime I am happy sucking on my MVP and iclears or my new toy, zmax and davide mega I also got a mech mod to try, bought, from the classies here but need to get a couple of protected batteries for it. I will be watching your thread on the iclears closely because I am getting tempted with something rebuildable too. All the best to you.

Hi Siffy I bought a disposable after my wife suggested she wanted to try one which i thought was okish but never really took it that seriously. Then someone at work stopped smoking and started using a skycig which although he claimed it was nt really helping much, he was finding it too easy ...i got a tad suspicious of his claims . Roll on a couple of weeks and i get up one morning, let my dogs out, roll my first cigarette of the day and smoke it.......still waiting for the dogs at the back door i roll another one , start smoking it then half way down i just have a weird decision of deciding to stop there and then and stubbed it out. Got to about midday and doing ok but the idea of going to buy a kit to make it easier sprung into my head and the first one i found was an elite which i bought which at least took the edge off the cravings. Realised very quickly this was going to be expensive so started googling options, found this forum and followed the advice to buy the Riva kit. I have nt really got into the shiny thing but i ve became obsessive about mixing and its rekindled an interest in electronics i had as a youngster which i firmly believe has been as much of a stop smoking aid as the vaping has; its kept my mind active and away from smoking.

It seems we may have got the best in the non rebuildables with our iclears which doesn't suprise me as I love mine. I'm like you, only a few weeks ahead of you vaping wise, I notice my breathing, energy and other people who have that smoking smell. I know this might sound strange (it probably does) but I noticed something else to the other day. I went to the Essex shopping center Lakeside and nipped out for a vape. As I stood there vaping I noticed the beautiful sky and trees in the distance. I remember thinking how beautiful and realised I'd never noticed the view before (which is strange as I don't miss a trick!) I then realised it was because I no longer smoke I really am calmer now, I do stop and smell the roses as the saying goes. Do you notice this too? I think that was a turning point for me tbh as much as the health and expense side of it. I have always been an anxious so and so but I no longer feel as anxious.

Hi siffy, my vaping story is that I smoked from the age of 15 for about 43 years (30 a day at the end). I was getting increasingly out of breath and when I went to see the doctor he diagnosed mild COPD. He told me although it would not get any better, it would not get any worse if I stopped smoking. I threw my cigs and lighter into his waste bin and stopped there and then. I went cold turkey and was off them for 5 years through sheer willpower but there wasn't a single days during those 5 years that I didn't crave nicotine. One particularily stressful day I was sorely tempted to buy a pack of cigs but rather than undo all the hard work I had put in over the previous 5 years, I bought a disposable e-lite and the rest is history. I vape to feed the nicotine demon and because I love the whole lifestyle.

Thank flamming goodness you no longer feel like that! Am made up for you I really am. I can only imagine the bliss you must have felt when you took a inhale on your PV. I am glad of it after 2 hours let alone 5 years.

I tried them a year ago and only lasted 2 or 3 days on them so you did better than me.

I read about e-cigs on a completely unrelated forum, and thought 'I'll get one of those to cut down during the day, and just smoke fags in the evenings'. After only 24 hours, I realised that I could use my eGo battery and disposable clearo as a substitute for all my tobacco, and the rest as they say is history. I do have to admit that I'm now addicted to the recoiling, preparation, refilling, and all the other things that vapers have to do to get ready to face the world. But would I change anything? - never, I'm now addicted to vaping, but it's much better for me, my family, and friends. And more than anything, it has introduced me to you lovely folk, who share their humour, problems and crises with me on this forum in a way that I would never have imagined. I have the chance to help new vapers with my limited experience, and have made new friends both locally and countrywide (and further afield) in the process. Vaping? - it's the solution for me, and I wouldn't give it up unless I'm forced to, in which case I don't know quite what I would do, but it wouldn't be going back to tobacco, that's for sure!!

Hi, i am start smoking at the age 20. I am start getting more smoke day by day, it is going to be increasing day by day. It going to be very serious issue for all my family member. He force me to quit smoking, I tried to get out from these addiction but i am unable to do like this. Then we start to find some alternative then i found a electric cigarette. which is really good alternative of smoking nicotine free smoking and without any health effects.

I smoked fags for 49 years.
The hardest part of changing from smoking to vaping, for me, was nothing to do with the actions, the idea, the taste or the feelings that only nicotine can give you, it was to do with the fact that e-juice does not give you the same deep satisfying sensation that tobacco smoke gives you.
There are two chemicals in tobacco, Liquorice and Chocolate, that when burnt, relax the muscles in your throat, causing it to widen and therefore allow more of the smoke to enter right into your lungs.
E-juice does not do this when it is vaporised and then inhaled and so to get the same satisfaction from vaping, you need to inhale it more often.
This is one of the main reasons that many try vaping but find it "not for them" and they return to smoking.
Personally I wanted away from cigarettes and so I had good reason to persevere with vaping until I found it an okay way to get my Nic Kick.

Last resort, tried most things, left vaping till the end, cos I didn't think it was going to work, thought China was trying to poison people, never trusted the idea of them.
When you've got nothing left, you clutch at straws, so vaping it was.
Worked straight off the bat, straight away, not a puff on a analogue after my first try at ecigs. There was no one more surprised than me, let me tell you.

My story is i heard a good friend of mine had stopped smoking and started vaping so I wondered could I do it. He loved his smokes as much as I did. So I started looking into what it actually was aside from the crappy disposables in tescos. He introduced me to this forum and gradually i cut down without really trying as vaping made it so easy. Now 5 months later I never think of a cigarette and they repulse me. I never thought I'd stop smoking. I loved it. But honestly I love vaping more!!!
