Hi Steve, welcome. I'm new, too and joining this forum kept me on track. I was surprised how easy it was to swap cigarettes for vaping but I would have given up a while ago if it hadn't been for the advice and knowledge I've found here. I made some big mistakes to start with and, like you, tried to find a tobacco flavour to make me feel as if I was smoking; reading about other people's experiences made me realise that wasn't the way to go and I've tried other stuff following reviews and recommendations. I've now found a few flavours I really like and am having fun looking for more, I've got some kit that works well and can find out how to look after it on here. I do have two big problems though! 1. I'm spending too much money and 2. I haven't a clue what to do with all the liquids and odd bits of stuff that I bought in error! Good luck, don't give up it's worth it (I had a really annoying cough for years that vanished within a couple of days!!)

You could try adding a few drops of menthol flavouring to those juices as this sometimes brings a muted flavour to life. Unwanted hardware can always be used by our resident mod maker raid2506 ... see his recent thread : allaboute-cigarettes.proboards.com/thread/28689/free-repairs-recycling

Steve, you aren't a dimwit - far from it. It's always been my main aim of the forum to help anyone new to e-cigs to find the best deals & get the best out of using e-cigs. So as others have said, please don't hesitate asking any questions.
BTW, where about are you? I'm only asking as there could be other members near you that would be more than happy to meet up with you or even an organised Vape meet near you.

Hey and welcome to the forums mate. As Chrissie mentioned I have organised a monthly meet up, It's in Bradford and all the details are on the thread that was linked. This month we are actually running a beginners mixing tutorial for learning how to mix your own juice, and have an unbelievable amount of freebies on their way to be handed out, courtesy of some very generous vendors. Feel free to call in, there are even some starter kits being sent to us so if you are new to vaping and haven't yet learned the hard way (like most of us had to) that you need back ups for your back ups I'm sure we can sort you out with some spares =)

"My name is DJS, I had an accident and I woke up in 1973. Am I mad, in a coma, or back in time? Whatever's happened, it's like I've landed on a different planet .... and I am smoking John Player Special." ..... ??? Welcome to AAEC

Bloody hell!
Friendly and helpful doesn't really cut it.
I'm trying to work out what head things I need. The one that was linked to above says it doesn't work with CE5 holders, I think I have the cE5 ones, but not absolutely sure.
Have actually used the thing tonight instead of ciggies - well, not exclusively, but a bit (lol).
Meeting up sounds interesting - do I have to carry the financial times or wear a pink carnation or something? Saying that, mixing your own - that sounds a little advanced for me?
(And Jordan, what on earth are you smoking in your photo!)

DJS - don't know how to do the smiley things but PMSL.
When I was at school, the more discerning kids warned me off Black JPS on the basis that the filters contained asbestos and would therefore make your lungs bleed.
I just liked them.

Well if you think having lots of flavours are cluttering your table you can always mix the flavours together to make new ones that you may like. Also you can never have enough flavours when you first start. I personally have been only vaping for 4 weeks and from pic above you can see the liquids i have bought. i have now just recently bought over $100 worth of flavourings and the nicotine base with the pg 'n' vg glycerin so i will be making my own unique flavours when they turn up..... My favourite flavour at the moment has to have been the cappuccino or the tiramisu, but everyone has their own palette and I love coffee. Also think of a flavour you like and try it at a vendor, if you don't like that flavour from that vendor try a different brand, each brand has different tastes, some sutble, some intense but either way there is a difference. No one can tell you what you like, only you can decide but going down the route of getting the cigarette flavours makes it easier to go back to the real cigs, trial and error is the key. HaPpY VaPiNg

(And Jordan, what on earth are you smoking in your photo!) Steve Mixing your own is as easy or as hard as you make it =p Personally being quite new to mixing my own I buy pre mixed nicotine base in 18mg strength at 50/50 pg/vg and just add flavouring. It really is as simple as adding 10% flavouring to 90% base liquid (sometimes more flavour sometimes less depending on how strong the flavour is. It works out at under £30 for 200ml of liquid, this includes the price of empty mixing bottles and also includes p+p. As for the meeting you may need to learn the secret handshake (this involves palming me £10 for beer funds =D ). Nah it's just an informal get together to catch up, trade liquids and have a good chat. You should really try make it to this months meeting since we have managed to get a lot of freebies to hand out =p
