What I still find totally incredulous is that the Government DARE question the safety of e-cigs while at the same time allow the sale of tobacco products (which are KNOWN to cause cancer and kill 50% of the people who use them) in every corner shop in the country. How can tobacco be okay to sell, but e-cigs not?!! Money money money baby!, that is the reason. Look at the logic from a layman's point of view. Tobacco Sales = TAX = INCOME = WIN Tobacco Advertising = TAX = INCOME = WIN Medicinal licencing for NRT = TAX & INCOME = WIN WIN Medicinal research for NRT = TAX = WIN Medicinal licencing for tobacco related illness (drugs) = TAX & INCOME = WIN WIN Medicinal research for tobacco related illness (drugs) = TAX = WIN now to the morbid bit, DEATH = TAX = WIN. INHERITANCE = TAX = WIN. (Now the downside to the smoking for the "government": NHS, however logic tells you the above far outweighs the cost of giving medication compared to the revenue generated directly/indirectly from smoking) Now look at Ecigs...................... Ecig Sales = VAT Tax only = government Ecig research = NO TAX = government Ecig Advertising = VAT Tax only = government Decline in "analog sales due to ecigs" = very government So in a nut shell, the government have the hump because they will loose ALLOT of money and they don't want that, not to mention the lobbyists backing the tobacco industries threatening to cut party donations (which make up a BIG part of party donations to some particular parties) Do your research, the government are scared of people taking back control rather than being pig headed sheeple blissfully ignorant to being shafted in every aspect of life. Just my 10p worth....

totally agree with every word jakethevape. I'm just stunned that the public actually believe the reasons they are giving. I do get people looking sceptically at me vaping and have been asked "are you sure it's really safe??" Compared to what - juggling hand-grenades which is what smoking is?! Do they walk up to smokers and ask them the same question?!

Then again allot is down to curiosity, but on a positive side I have noticed LOADS of people using them recently, just little places like seeing people vaping in cars in traffic or casually walking down the road vaping. We are making ourselves noticed which is important.

I was at a social gathering last night and someone asked me about my Vamo/Protank combi. After briefly explaining, the lady of the couple said "That's the second time I've seen something like that today. One of the delivery men at my farm had a smaller one around his neck this morning." I think the balance is soon to be tipped and I'm not sure what the Govt. is going to do then - sheer weight of numbers is, I suspect, something they really hoped wouldn't happen until after the whole TPD debate was signed, sealed and delivered. I totally agree with everything said above - it's all about the money. The Govt. have belatedly realised that they are going to lose out big-time, and not one press article that I've read so far has actually addressed, for me, the main issue: is the Government prepared to stand by and watch hundreds of thousands of vapers revert to tobacco rather than allow them to live a longer, cleaner and more healthy life? But of course we all know what the answer to that one is already . . .

Welcome to the BMA. Absolute nutters the lot of them and they REALLY HATE E-cigs lol
They are raving loonies though so it's not surprising.

What winds me up is that obesity is a massive issue at the moment but there are no plans to shut down fast food restaurants or put a tax on unhealthy food. In fact healthy food is more expensive. This country is run buy complete idiots that simply care about revenue and turn over instead of what is actually happening.
They would save a fortune on the NHS budget if every smoker started vaping instead.

www.itv.com/itvplayer/daybreakJump to 48 mins. BMA doctor talks utter bollocks and Katherine comes across as very sane and sensible. Glad I wasn't there or the interview wouldn't have been broadcast due to my response to the BMA. They along with The Angel of Death, the Daily Fail and MHRA are public enemy number one.
