I was paying £80 for tv, sports, children's, phone and broadband. Cancelled it last month. Now have bt broadband and phone which is £15 per month for the first six months and then £31 after that. Will use the sky box for freesat for a while and then probably buy a recordable box in a few months.
When I rang to cancel they told me I could have reduced my bill to £50 a month on the same package due to being a loyal customer, I told them maybe they should have mentioned that before send me my bill for £80. Think they were annoyed that bt had already told them I was switching supplier.

I have no idea what Sky package I have but if I had a choice I would be with Virgin and not sky. I've always found their service better priced and far superior broadband. But living in the wilds of mid Wales there is no such thing as cable tv, or gas central heating or gas ovens, or Tesco or B&Q. Petrol stations and chippys are all shut by 10pm ... I don't know what the hell I'm living here for if I'm being completely honest

It's always worth threatening to leave River but you need to keep your nerve we're with talk talk for phone and broadband and have a Sky Package and Sky Sports for TV. Until recently we had the Sky plus Sky Sport for £20 a month for around 15 months but that was after I cancelled it Caused no end of rows when we were nearing the cut off date but then the day before they called us and offered us a deal In total we're probably paying much the same as you at the moment River

Kissed sky goodbye for a good broadband connection and usenet subscription. Saving a small fortune and not watching junk/repeats/adverts. Nag my sky-buying friends to watch the footy.

I have just been offered free tv, and unlimited broadband for a year - pay not much for line rental from sky, I turned it down. I have been forced onto sky broadband cos they bought o2 out, but murdoch and co can stick their offer.

We are on copper cabling that goes straight to the exchange with 9000 residential connections on it and it's miles away. Unfortunately it means we have 2mb broadband on BT lines but pay Sky and it's expensive. Should all change next year when they build the new fibre street cabinets and we can have fibre broadband then ADSL is reliant on the quality of the wiring and distance to the box or exchange.

Just to add it's not a Sky issue, it's BT Wholesales crap copper cables that were laid by a bunch of useless builders and run all over the place so the cables are a lot longer than they need to be. Any provider in our area has to use these lines so has to pay BT the same amount, hence the cost.
