To the good old days of telly and films. Have just watched the original 'The Railway Children' again followed by 'The Magnificent Seven' with Yul Brynner, for the umpteenth time. I never tire of these films. They just leave a 'feel good' effect and always have a 'message' in them about how we should live our lives if we want to be happy. Just reaching for a tissue. Am about to watch 'Battle Of The Bulge'. Forget all the latest 'techno crap'. I know you youngsters will think, what's this 'old fart' on about... but trust me, in later years you'll understand.

I was brought up on Star Wars, Jaws, ET, Indiana Jones and TV programs like Star Trek, Blake's 7 and Dr Who. Guess what I watch now and will probably still be watching in another 40 years Having said that I still love modern action/Sci-fi/Horror movies as well as family movies. I still listen to Heavy Metal and Hard Rock as well as Dubstep, Trance, Hard house etc. Can't really see myself changing that much and start liking Bingo, Blue rinses and tweed

Watched battle of the bulge earlier and spent the whole film complaining about historical inaccuracies, especially the tanks used Modern films are much better in that respect. I do find that the films I loved as a kid, such as The magnificent seven and The Alamo, now seem dated and a bit daft the way some things are done. But, modern films aren't also perfect, I don't think I am easily pleased, lol. Btw, watch "seven samurai" if you haven't already, it's the film The magnificent seven was based on and is really good (or was, I haven't seen it in years, must see it again)

Im reading To kill a mockingbird just now and i cannot believe i ve never read this book up till now(guess my school had it on the banned list),stunning, amazing ...i really cant praise lee harpers book enough.
Thankfully i never got round to watching the film version and im looking forward to watching straight after ive read the book.
I just dont get that "special thing" from new films but give me a john mills film set and im in my element.

I just watched the screen version of Truman capote's "In Cold Blood." Yes .... some of the classic films are exactly that, classics. Time does not diminish them, if anything the passing of time makes them more interesting.
