Must admit I've never bought batteries from overseas, with the hassle/restrictions it's even less worth it now . . . like Greigster my last couple of orders have been from Torchy. Just recycled some of my AW's that have seen some pretty heavy use in 3 years, so I can live with the outlay for that lifespan.

I just hope UK sellers dont put prices up knowing our choices are becoming limited. I've not bought overseas batteries before but I was considering throwing a couple in on my next purchase, maybe not now.

I ordered a battery for my phone from Ebay and there was a large warning on the box for all to see confirming that it was a battery. Also inside the box was a small diode thingy that probably cost no more than 1p, which the seller recommended just throwing away but it all conformed to the Royal Mail rules in that, the box contained a battery operated device with the battery ie. the diode. It makes a joke of the Royal Mail system.

Well I thought I'd take the risk. Placed an order last night and just received shipping confirmation.
Let's see what happens!!

Oo-er I placed my first ever order via a chinese company (focalecig.com) on 18 October and it's still in the 'collecting goods' status. Now wondering if that's due to the battery problem on overseas orders. I ordered a pack of 7 ego-c twist batteries at 79 dollars. Payment was processed, now hoping they can actually send the goods to me ???

The battery restrictions are for "Bare" batteries not those in devices. It is quite normal for orders from China to have a processing time before goods are shown as dispatched. Then you need LOTS, and I mean LOTS of patience! Tracking can also be a bit hit and miss, sometimes with goods arriving whilst showing it's still in transit. If you're the impatient type I'd recommend you use an express service like DHL, but of course you'd have to pay extra for that. The best thing you can do is try and forget about the order, those that postie stalk only end up winding themselves up.

toots if it's any consolation, my 3 focal orders were dispatched on 29-9, 7-10 and 11-10, and not one has dropped through the letterbox, but I'm not yet.. occupational hazard of ordering with free postage from China.....however, on a Bauway order direct from Bauway, only DHL was offered. It cost more than the goods, but did get from there to my door in 3.5 days

I daren't have anything delivered by DHL because over here it would automatically go through customs and I would be charged anything between 35 and 65 euros tax. Twice this has happened to me with other types of goods. One was a pen which cost 30 euros including the postage charge but customs charged me 35 euros which was more than the flippin item cost The other thing was a roof rack (could not get one here at all), postage charge was 45 euros and customs tax was 65 euros. It worked out to be one hell of an expensive roof rack

Oh, and just to add, I've had plenty of practice learning not to be impatient when waiting for deliveries. The postal system here is ludicrously slow at the best of times and at worst letters and packages simply have not arrived in the past

I got 4 batteries delivered from Hong Kong last week.
They were just wrapped in polythene and you could feel what they were through the wrapping. They were in a standard postal brown envelope and no attempt was made to disguise what they were other than the Customs Label that said they were LEDs.
They took about a month to come through.
