How much use should be expected of Tornado type tanks on screwdriver ? Leakage seems a problem after a fairly short time due i hink to hole enlargement after ongoing refilling.

I've no experience of them on a Screwdriver Birdy, but they usually last a good while before leakage on standard batteries and I don't see why the Screwdriver should be any different.
If they are the cartridges with the hard plastic, they do seem to open up a little more than the rubber ones, but I think you can buy replacement caps now from TW.

Hi Birdy, my OH uses a tank and has encountered leaks from cartridges from time to time, but having said that, he is still using some he bought in February. It all depends on the atomiser, as they are made differently from batch to batch. Keep a stock of new carts with plastic caps, he finds the rubber ones are not reliable and can come off inside the atomiser! Hope this helps

Thanks for responses - i also have a little trouble with some liquid making its way into and through mouthpiece and onto lips - found i can clear it by blowing back through mouthpiece but before long it creeps back.

It isn't wicking properly, try a dry vape without pressing the button a few times and then fire it up. I had no end of trouble getting mine going because I overdid it, (I am a heavy vaper!) That should help, and holding the device vertically.

Jason's right, TW are stocking the soft rubber replacement caps but personally I think they're well overpriced for what they are. As they do work fine for extending the useful life of the tanks, you might want to look at getting some of these in stock, Jason? They can be disassembled and given a good wash to keep them hygienic so with a new cap they should be reusable for quite a long time. Worth remembering there is an extra 'baffle' underneath the mouthpiece part which is also removeable if you want to give this a try, Birdy. The softer caps are much easier to pierce, too!

Cross-posted with Katfish, there - sorry! I also know a guy who ends up with liquid coming up the sides, he takes really long deep draws which seem to encourage this to happen and I think at least some of it is due to liquid recondensing in the small airways.
I've only had the cap stay inside the atty once since using the softer caps, Birdy, so I've been happy with them myself. If you're worried about this happening hold the tank mouthpiece down when you remove it then you won't have liquid going all over the place if it does happen.

I've looked into the 'caps only' Tetsy, but with the cartridges being relatively cheap anyway (mine do have the rubber caps on), I didn't think it would be worth it. To be honest the cartridges are a slow seller anyway.
Birdy - when removing a cartridge with a rubber cab on, just move it around a little as you ease it out, rather than just pulling it directly up and also always wait until the atty is fully cooled down.

If there is one thing I should have learned by now Tetsab and Jason, is that I should handle with care! I only use my tank when I am at work or with the horses, because it is the only device that can take the punishment and not break Clearos break in my pocket and I can't drip whilst driving, so I do love my tank for that reason. I will give the rubber end another go, with Jasons advice for a more reasonable approach to changing carts! Like a bull at a gate me

Hi Birdy,
I use a Tornado tank on my Screwdriver and have not noticed any problems. I have changed to using the rubber caps though and have not had any leaks since. They are quite easy to remove.
I find that after a while I have to dump the tank itself. They get looser as you keep removing them for filling. I probably get about a month out of each tank cartridge.
My first tank atomizer lasted over two months. I did take it to bits after about 6 weeks to clean it. Then got another three weeks out of it.

i have heard it said that solving the loose fit problem you can use the end of a needle to put deep scratches in the bit that slots together to then make a tighter fit ;

How did you take it to bits Steve? There is a really detailed tutorial on the TW forum showing how to re-wick a tank atomizer. Here is a link:- www.totallywicked-eliquid.com/forum/tips-tricks/re-wicking-a-tank-atomiser/The wick was still OK, so I didn't need to re-wick it. I keep all my old clearomizers though in case I do need to sometime. I removed the pin part and soaked the main atomizer body in diet coke over night. Then I flushed it with water and dried it all out and did a few dry burns to clean the coil. I used an empty Bik pen case to push the pin back into the atty until it clicked into place. Then poured a few drops of RY4 into the pin and also into the sides of the pin base to prime the atty.

Looks like you need to sign up on there to see it. Worth it as there are a few other good tutorials as well.
There is one about how to test an atty with a multimeter which is handy bearing in mind the limited warrenty period on attys.
