I've secured the garden furniture, but after that it's just a case of hoping that the massive tree at the bottom of our garden is still standing (or doesn't fall on the house).
It's supposed to be at its worst here during rush hour so I might delay my working day tomorrow. I can usually work from home but we have overhead telephone cables and the broadband slows to a crawl when it drizzles, so god knows what I'll be able to do. I may just keep our kittens company and watch homes under the hammer!

Not looking forward to the storm if its as bad as they say its going to be. I am home contact for a group of Explorer Scouts on a training weekend . Could be a busy night trying to get hold of worried parents. Wouldn't fancy being in a tent in this weather. In 2007 I had to pick my children up from a Scout camp as tents were taking off across the fields.

We are NOT going to have a hurricane. Love to all Michael Fish Lol roger, I remember that so well At the moment, I'm thinking they may have got it the other way round this time - but could be wrong. It was supposed to hit Cornwall first. OK it's raining here but not too heavily & no gale force winds zeldamum I hope the scouts will be safe.

On the satellite images it looks as if you've just missed out on the worst of the wet Chrissie, seems to have entered the country around Bourmouth, Southampton, Portsmouth and Brighton. At least that's where the purpley bluey patches hit first on rain today's imagery. Having said that, There is a nasty patch moving over cornwall now. www.raintoday.co.uk/

All calm here now and no phone call from the Explorer camp leader so can only assume they are all OK.
I hope everyone else is OK.

It's just starting here, all trains are cancelled and there's a fallen tree on my main road to work. Looks like a lie in for me! Depressingly, I've already started to look at work emails while still in bed

Seems to be ok here now in Brizol, a bit gusty around 5am but nothing that extreme. Looks like I'll be able to get into work after all.

Is Chrissie OK? I read that 1000's of homes are without power in the Southwest after the winds hit there.

What a load of PANIC which for me on the edge of the Somerset Levels has been a "Storm In A Teacup"!

What a load of PANIC which for me on the edge of the Somerset Levels has been a "Storm In A Teacup"! Looks to have been quite bad in parts though Des. Been quite nice here, considering we were on alert too, no winds, hardly any rain. Yet winds of over 90 MPH recorded near the Isle of White. Looks like Cornwall got hit too. Power lines down, trains hitting fallen trees, structural damage. Seems to have had quite a narrow path
