I am going crazy here trying to contact DVLA to speak to a real human being and NOT a recorded message that drones on and on and on!! My query is rather complicated, and doesn't fit any of their menu options. I have tried googling but all the various numbers put me straight back through to the irritatingly jolly bloke repeating the same thing every time. Anyone know the secret to trapping a human? Oh! And BTW, I have also tried the repeated pressing of the hash key and the star key, which funnily enough makes the man say " thank you for your call goodbye!"

Have you tried pressing zero as this sometimes drops through to an operator of some sort.

I am so sick and tired of this attitude by businesses and supposed "service" centres of late. What bloody service? There isn't any!! You either fit into their menu or we don't want to deal with you because it will obviously be too much hard work on their brains.

Just get through to any human and say you know this doesn't fit the criteria for them but can they put you through to someone who can

My pet hate is when you call one of these places and the recorded message directs you to the website. Had the website answered my question I wouldn't be phoning Blownupdolly it took me 2 years to sort out my tax code recently, eventually I resorted to snail mail, and it worked

Yes, I also got told I can do everything on their website. WRONG! And if I am as unlucky as you Karma I will record an automated message on my iphone to repeatedly play to any police officer who wants to check my licence, which will possibly be invalid!

Which number is it you're calling as a matter of interest ? They have a few numbers I can find but they relate to whether it is a license or vehicle inquiry.

I have tried:
0844 770 1992
0844 496 0601
0843 515 8104
Plus a few others that I think were old numbers. They just put me through to the same menu.

I've just moved and had a similar problem getting through to the council - round and round in random circles listening to a useless voice reel off option after option. In the end I sent a rather rude message via the complaints email address and had a very apologetic reply this morning from an actual real person who is sorting it all out.
So try being rude.

I have a stinking cold right now and have little energy, but, when I feel stronger I think I shall enjoy sending a rude message.
