I hope everyone has a little time at the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month to pay tribute . . . For the Fallen . . . They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them.

Hear, hear Perps .. the freedom that we and our children enjoy today is down to the sacrifices made on our behalf by previous generations.

I like watching the London parade but im tempted to dust off the blazer and tie and head into town.
Either way i will be showing my respect with a 2 minuite silence.

I always find it incredibly moving. And without wishing to detract whatsoever from the human sacrifices made in all the different conflicts, as an animal lover I'm pleased to see their contribution is recognized at the Cenotaph parade. www.animalsinwar.org.uk/index.cfm?asset_id=1422

PerpetuaBless you for remembering. Especially poignant to myself being an ex member of H.M. Forces. Did anyone catch the festival of remembrance last night on TV, Very moving.

Just back from our local service. Ex Forces as well. Always very sad to see less of the 'Old Boys' every year.

I am going to get more involved with the Legion I think. Some of the branches around here are really struggling. I've got the time, so maybe it's time to give a bit more.

It's too easy isn't it Roger, with any voluntary organization to think that someone else will contribute their time to help keep it going. Sadly that's so often not the case. I'm sure you'd find it a worthwhile use of your time and your services would be very much appreciated.

A very poignant time.
My father was a POW (captured St Valery 1940 during the standoff for the Dunkirk withdrawal ) sadly passed away on the 18th November 1971 .
My prize possession is his war notebook written whilst a POW in which he wrote his thoughts and collected poems; which are even more poignant when i realise they were written by his friends and himself before they knew the outcome.
I thought id post one as a mark of respect to my father ,all the POWs ,those that suffered terrible injuries and the many who never came home from all sides .
Also a thought for the poor animals dragged into the humans madness for war
Never Grumble
Why has a man a longing for things he has not got When so many would be happy with only half his lot So often are they wishing – if only other things we've had Our motto now should always be, “For the things we've got, be glad” The use of eyes, of legs, and health and that precious gift, to hear! Some off our comrades may have lost just one, but yet so dear, So if ever we should grumble, just think over what we've got For those that lost, what we still have, would be happy with our lot.
