Hi all, some of you might seen my thread from yesterday regarding my suspect device.... but thought this was probably a different problem. I'm waiting for royal mail to deliver me some new equipment but in mean time trying to use what I've got. Anyhow, been tasting slight burning taste, which I've tried to ignore as thought it was probably just me but has got lot worse, as confirmed by mate at work who tried on Friday and again today. He suggested cleaning, which I've tried with warm water and hair dryed. After this was improved but not perfect for about first dozen drags once got taste coming through but now if anything its worse!!!? How often should the clearomisors by changed? I'm not sure I'm gona last till royal mail delivery lol, this is horrible! The kit I've ordered has mini protank with spare coil head thingys... how often do you change the coil heads? are they cleanable? Saw thread for cleaning normal clearomisor and guessing cleaning same. Also don't get this dryburn thing? is is safe to do with bottom coil(coil near battery?) types? Thanks

boyofford - yes you are fine dry-burning BCC heads after washing and rinsing. In fact, I've just done a Protank head as I can't be arsed to recoil at this late hour! The burning taste is a sure sign that the juice you have been vaping has caramelised on the coil, and dry-burning is often the only way to improve the situation, but it only works a few times, at which time a new atty head is the way to go. If your clearo is a disposable one, you may have a limited lifespan left from it now As far as changing head is concerned, you could dry burn until the increase in performance is negligible, and then consign to your SPARES BOX for when you take the plunge and learn how to recoil them, thus saving you about £3 each time!! Recoiling really isn't that tricky, and for literally pence you can wind a new coil with a new length of wick in 5 minutes once you get the hang of it. I must admit that the dry burn alluded to above is the first time I have done so for some time - I usually just take out the old coil and bang a new one in, on average once a week. Here's hoping that your RM delivery arrives tomorrow, and you can sit back and enjoy a good vape from your new Mini Protanks!

Thanks for response but think I'm not getting this dry-burning?
I've just re cleaned the coil/head thing, dried it and then just pressed the power button until crackling noise stopped. I had a look down tube and was red hot with nothing left to burn I reckon. But if anything it now tastes worse, like sucking on a house fire! I waited a bit for wicks to fill but still same?
P.S. I need to learn the names of bits lol

As Ros's advice boyofford . . . I don't get this burning thing either. After one denture tablet bath treatment, I tend to ditch a coil head. They are a disposable item and don't last forever. Their longevity tends to depend on what eliquid you're using, some gunk coils quicker than others. 1-2 weeks of enjoyable vaping time is about average for me on an Evod head . . . considerably longer with the Iclear16's.

With a Evod type head I get 1 week maximum, I then put to one side until I feel like a recoiling session.
When you put a new coil in you'll be amazed at the difference - how much better it is. £3 for one weeks vaping is considerably cheaper than what you'd have spent on stinkies!

boyoffordCongratulations, you have discovered the vapers curse.....Manufactuer supplied initial heads. it's not so uncommon to get a duff head that may taste burnt or even fail . You do have to remember these things are made on an industrial scale and as with all man made stuff, some are from "friday afternoon shift" You seem capable in your comments so I would highly recommend you do consider recoiling/rewicking...Besides saving money, you can control the quality of your heads. That's a great kit I bought one a week after starting vaping. The coils last for ages but you do need to wash them I drop them in some bicarbonate over night and rinse them in the morning leave to dry all day. I use 2 coils and alternate them still using the orginal coils 2 months in. Don't forget to let the juice soak in when you change coils about 5 mins or draw without firing the button a couple of times. For the tank itself I just wash it in warm water then use a pipe cleaner or rolled tissue to dry the centre tube and the bottom screw so no water on battery. Hope this helps

Yes I usually do it everyday but others leave it longer. I change flavours a lot too so that's one reason I'm still learning though

I change flavours a lot too so that's one reason I'm still learning though That's probably a bit much for me, might just keep chucking them in the bicarb then dry them all together as I've got five anyhow. Do you find if you take a few three or more big drags in quick succession you get a slight burnt taste that goes if you are more patient and let the wick refill? I bought a variable voltage vision spinner at same time and have found if turn voltage right down to minimum this ain't a problem so much anymore. Read somewhere that you need to modify coil(perhaps I forget) in protanks if find this a problem but will have to get googling/youtubing when get a mo. And as these are stamped up with 'myepack' not sure if that applies to these?
