am i right in thinking Proboards host a multitude of forums and the 13+ is across the board, not just ecigarettes and suchlike? so a sensible rule. i started smoking at a very (i mean VERY) young age and with the help of here, have finally managed to stop. if one of my kids turned to here (specifically AAEC) to help stop smoking, then i would be a happy parent. it doesnt make it right, but i'm happy the advise and help is here to maybe help them. also my kid would get a very tanned backside if they had started smoking when i did ! You are right in thinking that, Spikey. Jag. (My helpful answer of the day ...... )

Seriously, you really don't want to help anyone due to the removal of your bum waggling avatar? I never said that. I said I'd be scared to post anything. Worried, not scared, I've got kids so not a lot scares me. Worried about helping anyone because so many people on here are so easily offended. I'd be worried anything I said, descriptive, analogous, whatever the subject, however innocent, could contain words or phrases that a small minority of people on here would find offensive. And believe me, certain people on here are now going to take it upon themselves to monitor every single word people say. Having to be overly cautious about everything you say, especially on an "Adult" forum isn't going to be fun.
It's nothing to do with my avatar. I never saw the pictures in question, maybe if I did I'd have a better understanding of what the main problem was. What's upset me is the "He said, she said, I'm telling Sir of you" attitude that some people have displayed in their posts to this thread. I been vaping for over two years. I've been, seen and done, not everything but a great deal to do with vaping. There are many areas I believe I can help people with. There are many thing I could still do with help on. But not if I'm going to worried about people running to Miss every time I type something. I really don't believe it would be too difficult for you. Just carry on as normal but no explicit pics or seriously foul language and keep the fun and social side of the forum in the lounge section. Pretty easy really. I think most of us do that already.

Plot, I think you have misunderstood. No one has gone running to teacher about anything anyone has said. The warning is because proboards have picked up on some inappropriate posting of offensive pictures. Me reporting posts I found offensive had nothing to do with the warning. I'm not a run to teacher type of person, but the pictures I saw were not the usual banter type things on here. I only remember posting details of the first, it was by someone who hadn't posted here for years, and only had a couple of posts. If any of us see something on here which we think puts the board at risk then I think as adults we have a responsibility to tell the moderators about it. And then it's up to them to decide whether or not to delete.

Most of the 'quips' made are pretty harmless and intended as just a bit of fun, if they go too far or get out of hand then action can be taken. What is fun to one person may offend another, just be sensible that's all. I just hope it doesn't end up with a load of 'thread police' getting on their high horse and reporting every post they disagree with.

Yes, some people are a lot more sensitive than others, and maybe don't share the same sense of humour as others. It doesn't mean either person is wrong, just different, but in my opinion nobody should be bullied or frowned upon for a having fun within certain boundaries laid out above. If you don't fit in a certain subject or banter, then don't read it. Move on to another thread or section that suits you better. I do, but wouldn't dream of demanding stuff be removed just because I don't like it.

What surprises me about some of the answers in this topic, is the number of people who think that only adults view this site.
Whether we like it or not, agree with it or not, get upset because of it or not, kids do smoke and vape.
Kids are also very internet savvy and instinctively know where to go to get information about those things that interest them and I'm sure that a number of them are buying vaping products that they first learned about on this Forum.
It is not our job or responsibility to monitor what children do, look at or buy. That is the parents responsibility.
Hopefully, now that we have been made aware of some of the problems that the MODs and the Founder are being faced with, we will all be more carefully about what we post and respectful of the rules that govern our Forum.

Really? ??? .... a storm in a teacup mate ... no sense in leaving a great forum just because a perfectly sensible rule has been reinforced ... one which I am certain you already adhere to. Your contribution to the forum has always been appreciated by me and I'm sure others and I hope you will reconsider your decision.

Seriously? I find it astonishing that a simple request to exercise some common sense and refrain from posting images of a graphic sexual and debasing nature on a forum such as ours is considered worth leaving over. If we can't have a little respect for each other and Proboards T&C's whist still enjoying our banter and cyber interaction it's a pretty poor do really. The older I get, the less I understand on occasions. Given the anguish there is in the world and in many peoples personal lives, it's not such a big ask really. No .. no .. i am not leaving, thought the smiley was more of a ' hello i agree with you' icon ( it was late and my old eyes were tired ) .... i love this forum, use it souly now have not been on other ukv for ages, i totally agree with the sentiments over decorum in posting, this after all is avaping community before any thing else

Kids can (and do) get up to a lot worse when given free reign of their internet usage. That is 100% their parents' responsibility and not worth debating or falling out over here.
We've got rules everywhere we go in life. Drive too fast, get a speeding ticket. Post skin shots, lose the forum. Only thing that matters is playing by proboard's rules so Chrissie and the mods don't have to walk around on eggshells. Shouldn't be such a big deal really.

I'm struggling to imagine what plot69 wants to post which would inhibit his use of the forum and be likely to offend others. As others say exercising normal restraint is surely no big deal.

I haven't been online for a while, but wasn't surprised last night when Jag told me what was happening here. There will always be a few on any forum who will push the limit. It's human nature after all. This forum has been a great help to us. Without it we might still be clueless and still using Nicolites! Never knowing that there is a whole world of alternatives out there! (And our bank account can now vouch for that) We both have huge sense of humors and enjoy expressing them and getting feedback from others who are like minded. And there are very few good forums around these days. It would be a shame to lose this one, especially as Chrissie and the Mods have worked so hard building a community for us. Enough said.

I take it the posters of the inapropiate material were asked to leave the forum?

My suspicious mind wonders if the poster who put up these inappropriate images, who I believe from earlier in this thread hadn't posted more than a handful of times and not for a few months, did the deed intentionally to jeopardise the forum? Or maybe I'm just being too sensitive here? I really can't see any reason why we can't contine business as usual, and just bear this incident in mind before we hit the upload button on an image, asking ourselves 'will this be suitable'? In 99 cases out of 100 the answer will be a resounding yes, and we can continue to help each other with wit and humour as before. I shall not be posting on this thread again as I feel all that needs to be said has been, and it's now time to move back to the newbies and get helping them again!! (Oh, and getting some advice regarding my AGA-T )

At the end of the day all this is about respect. Respecting the T&Cs. Respecting the views of others. Respecting the fact that if someone says they feel something is inappropriate, then that feeling is real whatever the intended outcome. It's easy to get carried away behind a computer screen and behave in ways which wouldn't happen in 'real life'. I'll happily use the 'f' word in appropriate company, but wouldn't dream of doing so in front of kids (or my mum!). Let's keep our antennae tuned to the wants and needs of others, respect their preferences, and we'' be fine
