That is totally shocking! They bring the ban hammer down on smokers, then when they turn to an alternative (which is better for them and others around them), vapers get the brunt of things.
Good luck in court on that one!!!
Just for others out there... I know Starbucks and the wetherspoons pub chain don't allow vaping.

Will probably be shot down for thinking it, but it might have just been easier to saunter off when first asked and avoided all this palava. My two cents worth.

The sad thing with cases like this is that the response will be to ban vaping and treat it just like smoking .... I had a similar but non violent experience yesterday at a non-league football match when I was politely asked to stop vaping ...."in case smokers saw me doing it and thought it was ok to smoke"....
Makes my blood boil...

Makes my blood boil... Had this at a pre-season game at Stoke. I was sitting in a group of 5 friends, in a practically empty area of the stadium. A smoker complained and that was that. Almost got my season ticket taken off me before the season started. Jobsworth steward wanted to take my shiny new evod kit off me, he didn't get it... Smoker had a few words said at full time too... Sent from my GT-I9300 using proboards

It's all totally screwed ... We are still a minority having to deal with the ignorant and I'll-informed who's normal reaction to something they don't understand is to assume its bad and ban it ... I would happily pay some kind of voluntary levy on vaping products to create a fund that would be substantial enough to hire a decent PR company to spread the word and commission definitive studies that all these detractors would finally listen too ...
In true jag fashion...

Well folks after a phone call from the Police and 2hour visit to the local nic, I now have my MVP and protank back. Add to this all charges have been dropped as the cctv could not confirm that I had done anything wrong. I also was given an apology from the duty sergeant as in his words" the attending officers had not conducted themselves to the level of professionalism that is expected". Unfortunately my friend the security guard will not be fit for work for another 4/6 weeks due to a ruptured quadricep and unfortunately for him, he will need to find a new employer as he has been sacked ! On a side note here. It may have been easier to walk away, but sometimes you have to stand your ground. When I haven't done anything wrong, I ain't backing down easily and certainly not to somebody who thinks by using force, can achieve his goal.

A good and justified result, well done to you for sticking to your guns. An added bonus is the apology by the old bill, they are few and far between.

Read this all with interest. Seems that the situation got out of hand because of a security guard with little common sense. Glad it worked out well for you.
This week I have been in three places not previously visited. One a pub, one a restaurant within a pub, and a small town cafe. In all cases I politely asked what was their policy towards electronic cigarettes and was surprised to find a pleasant response and a positive reply that it was OK. All this in rural Sussex!

Regardless of the outcome, I think you should have walked away when asked, I have done martial arts (20 years ago) and this is what we were always taught.
However I wasn't there and don't really know the situation in real terms. I can imagine if you were trying to explain what you were doing and the security guy came at you while this was going on, you had a reason to defend yourself.
But, I don't think this should fall into the "ecigs vs the world" scenario, more a security guard who is obviously bad at his job and too enthusiastic about throwing his weight around.
Can we just remember here, a person (no matter how obnoxious and physical) has been hurt and has lost his job. A family disaster in the making. I hope he learns from this and goes on to a better life.
