I took one of my recoiled coils to work today - it was a mistake, as i keep getting dry hits. It's disgusting, I really hate them! Luckily I have a pre-made one in my spare evod, albeit old and tired, so I've swapped them over. I wonder if I need to add wicks on top as you mention to avoid this. I have 2mm silica at home so I could try this, but I'm wondering if there will be any problems with having so much wicking material in the coil.

Therfore once you have a few pulls it then cant wick quick enough to keep up thus giving you dry hits. You could try a flavour wick but there are more to stop leaking but will help a touch with getting more juice to the coil. Bad i know but i would re coil and try doing it looser. I made the exact same mistake when i first started. Still do now and again. Sent from my Galaxy Note 2

Sent from my Galaxy Note 2 I'm using the coil buddy, so its a 2mm drill bit and i pulled the coil tight on the bit. is this too thin? I'm using ekowool with i put over the drill bit, but don't double it. should I use a wider bit for these sort of coils, is the 2mm for microcoils? Or do i need more wicking material?

Dont know much about the coil buddy but by the sounds like things should be ok as the drill bit is in the middle of the ekowool. What thickness of ekowool are you using? Try one again but dont pull so tight around the ekowool and 2mm drill bit or just put that drill bit down the middle of the ekowool and just wrap the coil by hand with no coil buddy. Your close so don't give up. I do all mine by hand, normal and micro coils. Sent from my Galaxy Note 2

OK this has just got serious. I'm at work, and I'm sensible and carry spares and spares for my spares. I had 4 coils with me today but I have a problem with all of them: The first coil was giving dry hits, so i pulled the wick out of one of the others and added it as a flavour wick. This seemed to make it worse - I guess the volume of wicking material was actually restricting the flow of juice to the coil. so that's two out of action. The third was a shop-bought coil, but when put on my vamo it just said "lo ohms" and I can't use it. I guess I've caused a problem last time i cleaned it. That's three not working. The fourth is another home-made one of mine, I've got it soaking as we speak but I'm sure it's going to be a case of more dry hits. Let's just pray that it's vaguely servicable until I get home.
If not, at least there's a vape shop down the road - I'll be coping with a CE4 for the rest of the day, but it's better than the alternatives of no nicotine or smoking an analogue!

The fourth one is gurgling and leaking It's my own fault for bragging too soon, they looked right but the proof of the coiling is in the vaping. The title of this thread should now be read with irony. Time to buy a get-me-through clearo I think, it's the only option left.

If you have any chop it length ways in half so not as thick sat on top of the coil. Sent from my Galaxy Note 2

I think the fourth one has a bad seal around the bottom of the unit - it's leaking round the edge. Anywhoo, I've just nipped down to the vaping shop and bought an iclear16 as they don't stock kanger BCC units and it was the same price as their CE4s(!). I won't tell you what I paid for it, it'll bring tears to your eyes - we are so spoilt with our online vendors and the ability to shop around for the best price. They were sympathetic however, and I like supporting local vaping businesses so I'm not complaining (too much)! At least it'll get me through the day - back to the drawing board this evening. I have to get this solved before my RBAs get here... edit: huge thanks Roscopecotrain for talking it through with me!

The iclears are good, should be spot on to get you through the day. Have you thought about a micro coil and cotton in your bcc? So much easier and if there is not enough or to much cotton you just change it out instead of doing a whole re coil.

I've had iclears before but didn't like them, but after this mornings experience im so grateful to have something that works! It's much better than the last time I tried them. with regards to your suggeston: Can I use just normal cotton wool? Plus, and I know I should look this up, but what's the difference between a coil and a microcoil? my 4 wraps of 0.2 are pretty small, I can't imagine them getting much smaller... do I need lower resistance wire so i can make more wraps?

Yes i just use tesco stuff. a coil just has a few wraps, a micro coil has anywhere from 6-12 coils all touching each other. More wire touching the wick so more juice can be vaporized. That is the gist of it anyway. Yes you need 0.30 or 0.32 kanthal wire. I can squeeze 11 wraps of 0.32 into my protank heads.

There is a thread somewhere on micro coils. I just followed this video.
