When do you or do you put up a Christmas tree? We didn't bother last year due to poor health. This year I have under great pressure purchased a new tree… Now all I'm getting is earache about putting it up, aagghh! I say at least another 2 week before it goes up the boss says it goes up this week!! B.T.W... Yep, I hate Christmas I think it’s all too commercialized now and the true meaning has been forgotten.

I'm feeling pretty bad right now. My granddaughter gets a huge kick out of being the one to decorate our tree. It is her special job. She is only six so you can imagine the dogs dinner she makes of it. She's been doing it since she was about 3yrs old. I always refuse to make it tidier when she goes home as I like her to feel special and it's all her own work. Anyway... I promised her yesterday was going to be the day we put the tree up. Then, Mr Dolly injures his back. I have been in really bad pain with mine, more than usual! This meant we have had to postpone it till this weekend. She was so downhearted when I told her. however, I managed to soften the blow with a chocolate advent calendar.

Ours went up saturday but its not an actual tree as we are not tree fans. Last year i wrapped loads of empty boxes up off different sizes and the stacked them up in the shape of a tree and then put some lights round it. This year is metal rings getting smaller as they go up and we have a few baubles on it and some lights. No other decorations anywhere in the house. Sent from my Galaxy Note 2

Mine usually goes up on the 1st of December....however, after bringing the old faithful out of the loft along with baubles, tinsel and lights a strange thing happened. OMG the overwhelming smell of stale nicotine was unbelieavable. This time last year myself and the OH were still heavy smokers and I hadn't given a thought to the christmas decorations. Several years of standing in the corner of a room for a month or so with two smokers has sadly taken its toll. I now have a tree, no baubles, tinsel or lights stood in the room surrounded by incense hoping to mask the vile smell of stale nicotine. Will be spending the evening washing baubles and spraying tinsel with perfume before my tree is 'handsome' once again! Happy Christmas everyone.

I normally do mine the first full weekend in December --and it HAS to be removed before the 4th January as I refuse to allow one of my daughters to share her birthday with Christmas (her due date was Christmas eve so I hung in grimly.....) This year, because we had bought a new tree I was keen to see how it looked so I sneaked it up on Saturday just gone It's not exactly immaculate as 'him indoors' helped, then he lost the lights...after 3 trips to attic he found them so last set has been slung on after tree baubles ??? but it'll have to do. Bar a few (hopefully tasteful) tinsel decorations, thats it! I cant be doing with clutter and a Santa's grotto effect Thats the single Christmas offering on my PC desk somewhere (probably lost in the attic eaves) is a 6 inch USB Xmas tree that I sometime plug in, now THAT really IS tacky!

I love Christmas ... the wife has to restrain me from putting the tree and decorations up as soon as Halloween is over .... I have to wait a whole month until the 1st December .... Christmas is the best time of the year for me and it doesn't have to be commercial ... I very rarely watch TV so I don't see all the "spend all your money buying this junk" adverts but I do love the atmosphere in the city centre when the shops have made a bit of effort with their window displays. Although I am on a limited income, I get a great deal of satisfaction buying small inexpensive but personal gifts for my family and friends .. it doesn't have to cost a fortune to show someone that you love them and are thinking of them. At the end of the day, like most things in life, you only get out of Christmas what you put into it ... view it with a miserable attitude and you will have a miserable time. On your own at Christmas and don't want to be? ... put yourself forward as a volunteer with your local Simon Community or other charity and help bring a little comfort to those who live on the streets ... you will be doing good and you will have company at the same time.

Not that I'm doing it this year but Super-Shiny I do understand Christmas Tree OCD. Smaller baubles go at the top. medium in the middle and large down the bottom. The lights have to go on first, then the tinsel and then the baubles. I always have a traditional green coloured tree and gold and red decorations and I also think that 'more' is best. Can't stand a sparsley decorated tree! Heaven help anyone who doesn't do it right My son used to purposely do it wrong just to watch me freak out At work I facilitate user led groups so obviously I can't impose my Christmas Tree rules there. You've no idea how hard I find it not to interfere and not to dismantle the whole thing and do it 'properly' and I wish people would stop bringing in their horrid old decorations for it I've switched my light up cone's lights on today, so that's me sorted
