Oh my word !!! Not as easy as I thought !

Well first mission completed ! And I thought I had it sussed !! Didn't account for shaky hands and bad eyesight ! How hard is it too fill a syringe !! Luckily my hubby is a trained nurse and give me some tips !! I spent ages calculating different mixes/ strengths to get a straight ml measure or at at least .5 ! But no .... How hard is it to measure 2.96 !!! Think I need more 1ml syringes as this was the easiest one to get exact (hopefully ) measurements !!
Was terrified I was going to knock nic /pg/vg all over the place ! Clumsy is my middle name! If it can dropped, split, tripped over or walked into I will!!! Anyone know an idea for bottle holders ! Thinking will be more stable if contained ,thinking some kind of pen holder/desk tidy on a bigger scale ?? or some bungs like you get for calpol bottles so easier to draw from bottle ? Definately a learning curve on the plus side red Astaire smells lovely ! Can't wait to try the fruits of my labour !!! Sure it will get easier with practice !!

I got in a terrible muddle too jaysey the first time I mixed and like you I ned help from hubby who is a nurse to work the syringes. It does all just fall into place after a few shots though

I remember my first mixing session being similar
What I've learned is:-
3.0 tastes no different to 2.96 in the final mix. My tastebuds aren't discerning enough so I just round up or down.
Spilled PG or VG is a bit messy but no big deal.
Spilled nic is expensive but (and I say this purely from my own experience) if you get a bit on your fingers you won't die.
Once you get into making several bottles at one time, decant the nic, PG and VG into little bowls or ramekin dishes, it's a whole lot easier to fill a syringe from those.
And... it's damn good fun and saves a shed load of money

Well done, jaysey! It was your first time, so you worry about allsorts, especially hitting it spot on, but get yourself an assortment of syringes & then get into a good light & the next time will be a cinch. I must admit, for .4, I don't get stressed about not hitting it spot on.

I'm with OneDay and jess I don't worry about rounding up or down a bit to make it easier. I also pour some vg and pg into medicine cups and then put the tops back on the bottles! I always spill things and it's far less annoying to lose 20ml out of a medicine cup than a whole bottle

I've just made my second batch, but simplified things. I normally vape at 1.8%, but just mixed up a PG/VG/water/nic base at 1.8%, which simplifies things (25% nic (PG base @ 7.2%) 25%PG, 10% water, 40% VG).
Then I just put enough flavouring in a bottle, and top up with premix. Makes it marginally lower than 18%, but minimal.

A small bit of blu-tack on the bottom of small bottles can help, otherwise I decant into measuring cups. As OneDay says, round up or down, the difference is negligible

Thanks everyone was considering rounding up so glad it's ok to do so ! Will make it so much easier ! Any thoughts on bottle holders ? Might have a look in hobby craft for something suitable !

You could get something like this: Clicky



The compartments are adjustable so you can make the bottle a snug fit, lid just clips off  (best to check dimensions of it though)

looks good for small one , was thinking bigger for 100ml size of nic/pg etc ? Just too stop them flying off the table !

Well I'm pleased to say I did my first mix last night but it all went way easier than I thought it would thankfully, I might still find out in a week or so that it actually went wrong and what I've made is actually disgusting lol

Yay!! and dont fret I was twitchy too when I made my 1st set up last week in small sizes. The only thing I sweat about is reading the 1st calculations properly, I just double check between 2 or 3 programmes to confirm my percentages are right.

As far as the mixing goes I'm not so fussed if i'm not spot on as there's not much between a planned 60/40 mix to a sleigh of hand 35/65 or 55/45 and nictotine at 16 wont bother me if it wavers between 13- 19


Have just done my 2nd ever mix and went straight ahead to 30mls each of 'red astaire and minty the toff as they are the two I like most and its only 1 concentrate at 15%. This time i did get the wretched lids off OK ...its going to ruin my nails though!

Keep at it so much cheaper!
