I have three (well two I lost one) 1100 riva batterys and have been having problems with them they are starting to not charge every time and then the light just flashes. If I piddle about with the charger lead, in the end they will work again, well one did the other just wont charge.
I ony got one of them last week and the other no more than 2 weeks before that, are they faulty, have i done something wrong?
And where can i get a decent one that wont do it?

Have you cleaned the conections, if a little dirty, you won't ger a proper current going through.

Yep, as bluemagnum says try cleaning both the top of the battery and around the usb connection lead as liquid drops build up and prevent a good connection. Also use a tissue to clean around the atomisers as residue soon builds up and it is best to dab all connections dry on a regular basis.
I had same problem and thought the same but after a good clean they were as new.

Yes, as above, I had the exact problem, I found that cleaning them with Kitchen towel worked well. You'd be surprised how much residue is trapped.

If none of the above works then It's highly unlikely that both batteries are buggered at the same time unless you've been using really high drain low resistance carto's so it might be worth looking at the charging cable, if it charges when you're fiddling with it then it could be a broken wire in the cable.

I'm using a Tornego/rivaT and recharging the batteries in a multi battery charger for 510 batteries.
To use this you have to use a short extension/adapter to enable the Tornego/riva battery to connect.
I have found that there can be some electrolytic corrosion between the battery and the adapter, the corrosion is black in appearance and appears on the upper end of the adapter.
If your batteries are not charging correctly, try sticking the adapter in a battery drill and cleaning the end of the adapter with a piece of abrasive paper (about 320 grade wet or dry paper is good for this).
You need to be able to see a shiny bright surface on the the centre contact and on the outer contact, you should also be able to clearly see the white insulation material between the 2.
Also, if you look at the base of the male thread (on the adapter) you will see that there are 2 small holes, liquid can get into these holes and cause problems too, just clean the crud out of the hole with a fine needle or very small drill.
I have found the Tornego type batteries to be very reliable, and have only had one fail completely in the last year.
Hope this helps Cheers Barry

I ditched several fairly new Tornado batteries Pete not so long ago . . . only to find it was the charger that was duff.

I poked about with the charger and at least one is working now, phew !
When i first got the whole set up it was working really well. I have Boges now and am not getting the same hit. I wanna sort something out to get a real good hit like i used too.

That's good news Pete!
Don't forget the Boge carto's are designed for a short term lifespan . . . so you may need to change your carto's a little more frequently to get the 'hit'.
Without prying, it could be time to also think about maybe getting yourself a 'mod', if financial circumstances permit of course.

Yeah my Riva 1100 batteries are still going strong after a month an a half but I have had to clean them as described every so often to keep them charging and functioning properly.
What kind of mods do you have in mind perpetua as a follow on from Riva type devices?

I'd agree with the Don as Perpy suggests Pete.
You've also got the option of 5V with it if you want to give it a try.
