It is curious. I'm not sure that particular comment is fact, maybe some confusion with Med regs and the new proposals.
However, I find it odd that governments are wasting time messing around with t p d etc. and the fine detail of regulation when people are selling to kids. Surely that legislation is a no brainer and could have been passed already across the UK.?

The BBC is just going on the last it heard from the MHRA a few months ago that they will classify them as medicines and they've yet to officially change that stance AFAIK.

The government (UK and Euro) has already spent millions of pounds on tinkering with TPDs and "med regs" plans and now "consumer products" proposals.
It is pathetic that there is no law on U18 e-cig sales. Talk about taking your eye off the ball.
IF young people become addicted to nicotine/ecigs in the way that people are crying foul about, then the legislators need to take a long hard look at themselves and not the product.

"All our experience with tobacco products shows that advertising plays a huge role in how products like this are perceived. We cannot have a situation where we return to the bad old days where nicotine products were glamorised in advertising. (Quoted from the site in question)
but they do play a huge role
one of the ads suggest you can have a mini band play at your table when your mates go out for a fag and you take nrt, which doesn't work but the mini band takes your mind off the thought or you could be hallucinating whilst taking nrt that the band has shrunk
here are another couple

They should but they won't. They'll blame the product because it just justifies their already conceived opinion. I think you'll find they are utterly blameless.... in their own eyes.

They should have said Non-medical NRT products because we all know that once Nicotine is branded a medicine in whatever form it's taken it's completely safe which is the opposite of what E-cigs are now.

Hi Folks,
Been a smoker since I was about 9 yrs old. Have now successfully moved to e-cig and have been off the cigs for around 3 months now yay! But some of these statements above bother me as I have no idea where the information is coming from or how to qualify it. Can some of you point me in the right direction.
I would like to know where I can regulariliy check source information for the sorts of moves our govenment is making around these products. Seems to me they are now in a position where they need to protect their revenue. So keeping us on the addictive fags makes them loads of cash. Making e-cigs look like a dangerous product or planting the seeds of we didnt know about the dangers of smoking until it was too late is not a reason to ban or control something else.
The company I work for has banned them on work premises under our tobacco policy lol. Seems opinion is driving this more than anything else and the government are quite happy to further the nonsense.
So what are the options, the laws and where can I educate myself properly?
many thanks,
Robert
