We often go up to see the fireworks at the London Eye. They usually cordon off an area next to the TV broadcasters for disabled people, which means we get the best view right opposite the eye. My only concern is the weather. They have forecast wind and rain. I certainly don't want to be sat outside in that.
So what are you doing to herald in the new year?
Happy New Year to everyone here. I hope 2014 brings you all you wish for.

Hopefully fast asleep... cos I'm in work at 7am tomorrow! At least I was off the whole of Xmas week, so it's a small price to pay.

Last year we (the family) took over the local balti house and had a great time.
This year though we are all piling down my nieces, a few KFC buckets, loads of the wet stuff, then back home for BBC1 and bed.

I haven't decided yet, I've been asked to go to the local working mens club with some friends, another friend haas asked me to go to her house but I'm thinking that I may just stay home, eat a box of chocolate liquers, have a couple of g&t's watch the fireworks and go to bed. I'll decide later when the weather makes it's mind up, it's raining buckets here at the moment. I'm not making any resolutions this year, but I am hoping that 2014 is the finally the year a cure for all cancer is found Happy New Year to all, I hope you all have a fab night whatever you're doing .

Dolly, they said on the radio about an hour ago that the wind and rain should clear later this afternoon Funny story about the fireworks... a few years ago, it was my and my OH's first NYE together. He was living in London at the time, so we thought it would be nice to go see the fireworks. Got all wrapped up and jumped on the train. We got a fantastic spot, right outside Somerset House. 20 mins after we got there, I suddenly felt unwell, next thing I know is I'm half on the ground as OH is trying to hold me up... I'd passed out, totally sober I might add. Sat on the wet ground for 10 mins and when I tried to stand up I fainted again. Anyway, long story short, an hour and a half to get back to Victoria with me having to sit down every so often - we saw the new year in on a train waiting to leave Victoria! Needless to say, we normally stay in on NYE now and just hope we stay awake long enough to see the new year in! Lol. Happy New Year everyone!

What a shame you were ill and missed it! This will be the fourth time I have gone up there. I just love fireworks and the London one is the best globally in my opinion. When I lived in Sydney Australia, we lived just 10minute drive from the Opera House and went to theirs several times. They put on a fabulous display every year, but I still reckon London's is better.

I was absolutely gutted watching the fireworks on catch up at 1am when we got home. We're too far out to do them now, unless we get a hotel, but too pricey on NYE so unless we have an unexpected windfall, it's watching on the box for us. Apparently it's a multi-sensory show this year - you'll have peach flavour snow, edible banana flavour confetti and orange fragranced bubbles!
