I'm going to my local vape-friendly pub. I fancy having chilli con carne and a few shandies. I don't know if I will last til midnight tbough. These two days back at work (the normal day job) have worn me out!

Most pubs within a 30 mile radius of where I live are pay to get in (what a cheek ).Many also shut their doors at midnight and stay open till late. I prefer the peace and quiet (and cheapness) of my own home. We will be having a homemade Ruby tonight, I shall have a few drinks indoors as no one else in my house drinks. I do enjoy seeing it on telly and comparing all the shows around the world.

I'm with chrisjw on this one. We used to do new year, but welcoming in a new one that turned out just as crap as the last one started to get us down. I think the millennium opened my eyes as well - that was the first year they followed the celebrations around the world and it suddenly seemed blindingly stupid to count down to a moment that was supposed to be special but which had already happened to half the population and was yet to arrive for the other half.
So, mrs oneday will go to bed at her usual time and as I'm always up at midnight I shall watch the fireworks simply because I enjoy a good firework display.

Just watched the Sydney fireworks... pretty impressive. A few bob spent on that... not like the penny bangers I had in my pockets when I was a kid.

I just watched it too. Bought back lots of great memories. I remember the intense heat standing on the concrete even at that time of night. Sydney harbour is one of the most beautiful backdrops you can have for a firework display as the water mirrors all the colours.
London will have to go some tonight to beat that.

Got a few friends coming over for a takeaway and drinks. I'll be using the Bubba Keg tonight for beer, so after a couple of them I'll probably be asleep and miss all the fun! Just went to tesco to get alcohol supplies and refused to queue for the car park, so need to find a plan b pronto!

Yes, I remember the agony of being young and wanting to go out and party but couldn't. It's the one night of the year that babysitters are rarer than hens teeth. My daughter rang me this morning asking if we were going out and laying it on thick. Felt bad, but I've done my duties for many years so New Year is my night nowadays.
