Hey all

My name is Amy and I've been a Vapor (Vapour?) for a week now,  been smoking for the past few years and I decided 2014 will be my year to give it up.

Bought myself one of those EGO rechargeable cigs off ebay and some juices with nicotine in them because I can't go completely cold turkey

I noticed juices can be slightly expensive for what you get and when I compared what I would probably spend on juices to what I would normally spend on cigarettes I realised I wouldn't really save much,  so I've decided to mix my own.  I know I've only been using it for a week but after reading this forum for the last couple of weeks and doing a load of research I made my first order of:

100ml PG
200ml VG (got that from Boots)
100ml 24mg Nicotine PG
Apple flavouring

I got it all for around £10 so if I mess up the mixing at least I haven't spent a fortune and its good just to give it a go.  I have no idea what strength nicotine I'm going to need so I just bought the 24mg which is what I've read/seen most people doing.

Anyway I just wanted to introduce myself and say hi,  I'm happy to be a member of this forum and a fellow vapor

I'm not into mixing myself, but I think you will find the 24mg nicotine base a tad too low to mix with?

Wow, jumping into mixing so quickly is brave. I would say you might need stronger nic base. Your flavour will be PG based. So if you just mixed 2ml of flavour with 8ml of your base you'd get a 100% PG juice at about 19mg with 20% flavour.

Most new vapers seem to need 18-20mg or even 24mg juice initially to satisfy the nic craving

Its really quite simple, and a nice cheap way to make juice to your own taste and strength

I would advise getting a nic base of 54mg PG

You can then dilute it down to your preferred nic base with your VG/PG and Flavours

A lot of flavour concentrates need to make up between 15/20% of the final mix.

Here is a quick 1 flavour mixing recipe using 54mg Nic Base - Hope it helps.

Final result will be 70/30 PG/VG ratio to give you a bit of a throat hit which new ex-smokers tend to prefer.

Mixing is fab but yeah I'd get some 36mg/ml base just to be on the safe side

What mg juice are you vaping at the moment? Is it satisfying your nic cravings? Assuming it is, that would be the % to aim for initially.

Do you know what PG/VG mix you want to end up with? PG gives you more throat hit and flavour, VG gives you more vapour. I like a 50/50 mix myself. To make a 50/50 mix with 24mg base and assuming 15% of flavouring (which will be PG based) you will end up with an 8mg juice... At 12mg you could make a 65/35 mix

do you have a link to where you got the Apple flavour from?

If you need to mix it at 20% flavour, it will take your 24mg down to about 19mg but if it's one of the stronget flavourings and you only need a bout 5% then you'll not loose much from your 24mg. Hope that makes sense

As a newbie, I can't see you needing to use your PG and VG to dilute down at all but it will com,e in very handy if you do buy stronger nic base.

If you feel that mixing isn't for you we can also suggest some cheap but decent ready mad e-liquid
