Hi all. I started using e cigs only 6 days ago and absolutely love it, i am currently still smoking 5 fags a day. Have a few questions tho if anyone can help it would be much appreciated. I ordered a ev8 ecig from evapour 8, it was recommended by a friend - 1st question my liquid has gone a darker colour Is this normal? 2nd I'm using 18mg tobacco and used to smoke lambert is that about the same strenght? 3 as I'm still having nicotine but not smoking cigarettes as much will it be easier to quit the nicotine as I plan on cutting down on the strengths over the next few months and hopefully quit my nicotine habit. Sorry if these are silly questions in very new to this.

1st@kerry501, dont worry about giving up Fags, YOU ARE NOT. Taking up a new Hobby, Vaping is what you ARE doing. Dont think about cutting down Nicotine at the minute, just remember, every Vape you do have is one less Ciggie.

welcome Kerry Well done on starting vaping, and don't worry too much about nicotine amounts straight off, suggest you just settle into vaping 1st and once everything's going well then you can look into lowering/cutting down nicotine strength Have fun here and ask away!

I ordered a ev8 ecig from evapour 8, Welcome. The evapour8 site doesn't look too bad. Good name too. I wish I knew what they were playing at selling all the Nicolites nonsense.

on your e-liquid colour question, yes they often change colour as they mature, some eliquids (juices) are made to order and sent out fresh, so need time to settle and gain flavour - hence colour change As for nicotine strength, its more about how many ciggies you smoked a day rather than brand, if you smoked less that 20, then 18mg nicotine should be fine. When I first took up vaping I had a bottle of stronger, 24mg - for if I got a craving for a smoke, stopped me reaching for one

I'm using 18mg tobacco and used to smoke lambert is that about the same strenght? Oh yes, forgot to say. 18mg should be a good strength for you. You can't compare one to the other but if you were smoking 20 L&B, then 18mg makes sense to me. What do others think?

kerry501I'll try and answer the questions you asked but am a fairly new (3 months or so) vaper myself. (1) Liquid tends to go a darker colour in the bottle as it steeps and get's oxygen - In the tank (if you use a tank) it will get dark fro being heated up and also from the heating element's gunk that accumulates after the liquid is evapourated (some residue always remains - more so in different types of flavours). (2) Its difficult to match a strength against a cigarette. When you next feel like a cigarette have a gold old vape for a while and see if that eleviates the craving. If not, you may want to up your nic strength to 24mg. that's what I started on and am now down to 16mg without any cravings. (3) Nicotine reduction will happen over time - I started on 24mg and then after a couple of months went down to 18mg. Now I'm on 16mg and have no cravings of note and will most likely try to drop down to 14mg or 12mg in a month or so's time. I always keep a juice with a slightly higher nic % to hand though just incase my drop down isn't satisfying my body's need for nicotine. I am hoping in the next 6-8 months to be close to if not nic free though, but it's not something I will rush as I know I will fail. I smoked for nigh on 25 years befoe stopping compeltely in October. Even though I managed to just completely stop the ciggies, it's not for everyone and I pretty much had my ecig in my mouth 24/7 for the first few days. People say, don't count the cigarettes you are smoking, count the ones you aren't :-)

Thanks so much for the replies. I smoked approx 20 L&Bs and still have some liquid/juice/vapor (not sure what its called) in the bottle but not much, is that too much over 6 days? Out of curiosity if you only smoke ecigs do you then call yourself a non smoker or are you still a smoker but not of cigarettes? Oh one more question how long roughly before I will need to change the cartomiser? Should I order some in ready or will it last ages? Sorry for all the questions.

Always best to have backups ready :-)
I was a 20+ a day Black Sovereign/B&H Gold smoker.
When I started I would get through about 4ml to 6ml a day.
Now I get through about 3 to 4ml a day, but mainly now because I enjoy it and I work from home so it is too easy for me to do it :-)

Oh one more question how long roughly before I will need to change the cartomiser? Should I order some in ready or will it last ages? Sorry for all the questions. That depends on what you have as there are many different types. :-) Some last a few days/week. Some a month. Again, always best to have a backup or two for when they die. You will know when they die as vapour production will be poor to none. Taste/flavour will be nasty, etc.
