Sitting here wondering if I should become an old fashioned cowboy or stick a stuffed Parrot on my shoulder and become a well known Pirate, but for the next few weeks it looks like I will have to hop everywhere.
Here I was this morning, perfectly fit and healthy until I took the dogs for a walk. Almost home again and coming down a wet, leaf strewn banking, one foot slid from under me and the other leg buckled under me and down I went with a bump onto the wet grass.
Unfortunately, 5 years ago I got both knees replaced and so the bend in them is not as good as one would normally have and the knee that buckled got bent a good 10 or 15 degrees further than it has ever bent since the op. So I then had a wet bum and a knee that will not support me!
Now sitting in dry pants, boy that was a struggle, and a loupin' knee, all engagements cancelled for the next week at least and feeling very sorry for myself!
Such a piddly little slip and so much pain. Its ridiculous.
Right, where did I put that Long John Silver outfit?

Poor you, ouch! I hope you've whacked an ice pack on it & are resting with a strong cuppa & anti inflams.

Cowboy I think lobeydosser, rather than pirate. Much more interesting characterisation! Really sorry to hear about your injury - I know you have a few years on me, but our bodies are a nuisance sometimes aren't they? I've been suffering from a bad back for the last week, all down to a bad night's sleep. I had a slipped disc a couple of years ago, and it's always sensitive. Pain in the arse though all the same. Hope you recover quickly, and that you aren't in too much pain.

Ah lobeydosser, how awful for you hope you are taking some strong pain killers. It's horrible when something like that happens, so debilitating. Have you seen the Dr or been to the hospital yet?

No need to bother the local Witch Doctor. Just a few over stretched ligaments. Feels much the same way as it was in the days after I got the op. It's funny (well sore and funny) having to lift my knee up by hand, just to get off the bed. My 2 physiotherapists are keeping me company at the moment!!!!

Aww, lobeydosser Take care of yourself. I agree with Karma - get thee to a medical practitioner At the moment the "Get thee to a" bit that is impossible.
Just a "Get thee to the Toilet" or "Get thee to the Kitchen fur yer tea" is about as much as I can handle.
Having an ex-radiographer as a wife means I know the theory of what has happened because she is nipping my ears off and a tube of Transvasin will take care of the rest.
Actually my knee is okay. It is just the bits around it that are painful. When I got the replacement knee, they cut away some of the ligaments and so the ones that are left are a bit weak anyway. It's these I have pulled and they will take time to heal.
I still have my sticks from 5 years ago so hopefully I will get out and about in a couple of days time. In the meantime the telly in the bedroom will take a hammering.
Thanks for all your good wishes.

Well after a mixed night's sleep, having to eventually find a spare pillow to put between my thighs to stop one knee touching the other, using a walking stick to lift the blanket off my feet each time I wanted to roll over and fighting with my two "physiotherapists" (!*??%!!ers) for a larger share of the blankets, I woke this morning sleepier than I was when I went to bed. I did become obvious last night that I have over stretched the ligaments in my ankle as well and so, getting up out of bed this morning was a bit of a pantomime. Now just waiting for the painkillers to kick in before I attempt a mixing session. At least I will use the day to do something useful.

I've escaped!!!!
For the first time since Saturday, I have managed to get outside the house.
Okay, not far but it is progress.
Stick in one hand and 2 dog leads in the other, we managed about 30 yards along the village green and back again. I think I am as happy as the dogs as it is their first trip outside the garden for 6 days.
Now I will probably spend the rest of the day resting up, but still, today sees some progress.

Oh well, we will see what's what after that.

Oh dear lobeydosser. Sounds extremely painful, you should have gone for x-rays when it happened. Sending you healing thoughts.

Hi Karma, the only reason I phoned the hospital to ask what they wanted me to do, was because today is the first day I have felt well enough to go outside. I even made sure I could get into the car. So now I know I can actually get to the hospital. Up until now, just getting up the stairs to the loo was a major undertaking. Oh well, better get some MODs charged up and atties filled.
