Been noticing sometimes when using private networks your/or proboards protection software is banning certain ip ranges/servers.
Though many servers I have do go through. How is this decided upon? What is the deciding factor to ban? See below for Amsterdam server:

You'll probably need to raise a support ticket on Proboards forum to find the answer to this one.

It may well be because we've banned a spammer & their IP gets banned too, so if you try to log on with that, you'll be halted. The IP showing in your screenshot, throws up a list of 56 if you type into here www.stopforumspam.com/search

I got that @zero when I had only been a member for a few days and thought for a moment "well that lot don't take much upsetting lol" then I realised I was connected through a VPN, disconnected the VPN and was back in, I think certain sites ban ip's from certain countries not sure why, can you disconnect the VPN or change the server you are connected to?

We've had huge problems in the past ( along with other forums ) with spamming on an industrial scale smarties, these people might use proxy servers as well. So Chrissie on our forum and Proboards as a whole, have had to take measures to prevent this happening, otherwise we'd be in chaos.

Thanks for clarifying that Perpetua I'm new to posting on forums (this is my first go at it) and it's been a very good experience, it's sad you have to take measures like that but that is the internet there is a full range from very good to very bad people out there, hence me subscribing to a VPN as it improves security, it's not a problem to me I just switch it off when I'm on here. I know I haven't been on here very long but I must congratulate you for running a very friendly site

It's all of us really, that make our forum what it is . . . we're a big cyber family, like all families we have our dysfunctional moments - but they're happily few and far between and we normally kiss and make babies pretty swiftly after.

Yes your spot on. I usually don't connect through the p.network only if I am currently sending or receiving encrypted secure info or files. It doesn't happen on all the many servers I have but has just happened on a couple. Its clear that the reason its flagged, is the server ip which has been banned has been used to send abuse or spam. Must say proboards are using some good software for filtering! No big problem but thanks to all. I wouldn't bother raising it with proboards, as clearly they have the right to ban any ip or range of ip's where contravention has occurred. Just the first time that's happened and only through proboards connecting to AAEC. Cheers

Thank you for being so reasonable about the niggle @zero, smarties . . . I can only reassure you both, that it's for our benefit. Before these filtering measures where put in place, I and I'm sure the other ladies used to almost dread logging in as we could be greeted by epic amounts of spam to deal with. It really does make for the smoother running of our forum, for everyone.

I think you mean @zero no me lol Oops sorry. I meant to say "as Carpe Vapor says, you will need to take it up with Proboards support" Thanks from me as well @zero & smarties for being understanding.
