Looking to upgrade my laptop due to me doing the video reviews as mine is so slow. I am using camstasia 8 at the moment which i am enjoying so will probably stick with that. I have a budget of £500 but might go up a touch for the right one but less would be even better.
I have done a bit of research and seems i need upwards of 6gig of ram, at least an i5 processor plus some sort of graphics card to help it all run. Am i looking ok here people? Or am i miles away?
Had a look round and it is a minefield of stuff out there so if one of you amazing computer people out there could point me in the right direction that would be great.
Thanks in advance.

Forget lappy look towards Pc---maybe little less practical but able to upgrade and expand even with 6gb you will struggle plus you will be better off running a 64bit OS which would mean you lots more expandable memory upto 32gb most boards will handle, which would help a great deal on video editing ,will admit i am not an Icore fan,Amd me ,also to help with data transfer you may also want to look into SSD hard drives to for data write/transfer rates

A desktop is def not viable at the moment. I know it would be better but space is very limited plus a move on the cards anytime soon. I have seen the ssd drives mentioned but dont really understand it. Not massivly computer minded lol. So is there other processors that would do the job better or the same as the i5? I would agree with the PC over Laptop, but if not viable, then it's not viable. Unless you are going to be using software such as Premiere or After Effects then you won't need a beast of machine either really. SSD is good (faster transfer speeds) but expensive and will probably pop your budget. You will want hard drive space for video editing. Those clips and recordings soon eat away at space. But if needs be down the road you can always get an external drive to move some old footage off your laptop drive. I'm a big AMD fan but only for Desktops and only because I build upgrade etc myself and know what to expect. This one looks good for the price. good reviews www.ebuyer.com/579678-asus-x552cl-laptop-x552cl-sx047handy01424 has pretty much listed all the decent suppliers i would normally check out too.

Ok just a thought here peeps. Could i run a desktop via hd on my tv? Would save a bit of space. Usually make all my videos while cc is out anyway so no conflict with the tv.
Could i get a good spec desktop for less than a similar spec laptop?

yes you can run a desktop off a TV, i even run my PC through one as a 2nd monitor in HD.also run laptop through a 36" lcd hd tv[most lappys have a hdmi port],only reason i suggest the PC is one as said there fully expandable/upgradeable at any time, laptops are not,on down side with laptops shelf life is 5 yrs,if one component on lappy goes up creek it may work out cheaper to buy a new one,as for price well,i just built a new gaming one one:
MB + CPu Asus M5A97 Le Rev 2 mb Amd FX6300 black edition 6core 14mb cache £143 8gb of ram 1600mhz Corsair Vengenace £65 Hd i already had 2 tb--- but will be buying a 256 gb SSD at end of month £130 Case -- pick any start at £20 upwards- one i have is £59 Power supply -- you will need 550 wat min £30 Power plus hd superclock 7850 2gb memory £124
total of above £551..... and i shouldnt have to have rebuild for at least another 2/3yrs for gaming, you would also have to factor in a OS if you dont have one,if you want to use existing HD's then that price lowers to £421..............................and you wont get a pc at that price in with those spec in PC World for that price lol
will mention play battlefield 4 and get 134 fps lol removed stock cooler and added water cooling
opps go cpu wrong amended to 14mb---

as long as graphics has HDMi output then definitely. Of course you will need to check your TV specs as to what resolution it can handle (bigger the better) but should be fine.
You can get i7 processor and 16gb ram plus 2tb HD for your money with a desktop
Same links as posted above really and read reviews. Come back here when you found something you like and we will give it the once over as far as specs go :-)

or as mentioned above, you can build your own :-) Not too difficult, especially if you can recoil ProTank lol

Right then i may go desktop through the tv then.
I have windows 7 32bit at home but guessing 64bit would be better?
Would it be possible on £400? Would leave me some pennies for keyboards etc then.

To be honest, if building your own you want to spend just over the £400 mark or more For off-the shelf with good performance and a decent lifespan before upgrading, you want to push around the £550-£600 mark. Some you will get a base system with Keyboard and mouse already. Just make sure it has a HDMi output for your TV www.ebuyer.com/store/Computer/cat/Desktop-PC?a00039=Intel+Core+i7
