I'm not going to vote, because I agree with djs - higher ed funding has been slashed, and the only other people /institutions funding research have some sort of vested interest in the result, otherwise why would they fund it?

A better solution would be to ensure that the funding is transparent and published so that any bias will be obvious when reading a paper. This may already happen, it's not my area of study so I'm not sure!
