I didn't know you got a new flat, MM. I'm happy to hear it. That would depend on what provider you are using for the internet and if you are using wireless or a wired connection. If it's the same provider that you have now and the wiring in the new flat is the same as you have now, then just plug it in and you should be okay. Edit: make sure your internet provider knows that you are moving.

Dunno MM. Don't IPs provide to specific (geographical) address? If you've got wireless you ought to be able to piggy back off the connectionin your current flat, I imagine. Congrats on your move

So pleased to hear you have found a new flat to move to MM Your actual computer will work the same, no matter where you plug it in. However, I agree with jerry & Clutts, you do need to contact your internet provider, to make sure you will still be able to get online.

Delighted to hear the move is finally happening, MM.
Your internet provider will probably need to know whether you are taking your existing phone number with you to the new address or not, and they may also need to 'activate' broadband service for the phone line at your new flat if the previous occupant didn't use broadband. I reckon it could be worth contacting them sooner rather than later so they have time to arrange this if it IS necessary.
As you aren't millions of miles away, drop me a PM if it would be helpful for me to give you a hand with disconnecting and connecting things up at your new address - I can't claim to be a complete expert but I'm pretty good at crawling around in dusty corners and reaching plugs. Depending on when you need to do this, I'd be happy to fill the car up with a "load" to transport along with the computer and it's associated bits and bobs. Do please get in touch if this sounds as if it might help things go a little more smoothly.

I'd offer to come and rescue you if absolutely necessary but better give me a bit more notice; you're a bit further away from me. You've set off a little 'dream idea' now, if I ever win the lottery I'd love to get as many of the forum members as possible together - specially the old eBay group people - hire a lovely country hotel for the weekend or something and send a car for anyone who wouldn't be able to come otherwise... ...oh dear, now it's hit me I suppose it would have to be 'send a plane' or risk missing out on people like Jerry, Aldo & so on. Think we'd better make that a Euromillions win...

Forgive me, MM - I wasn't thinking! Would never deprive you of your Techy Man!! He would undoubtedly be better equipped to handle any snags, too. The offer's still good for an afternoon (or whatever) of carting stuff to and fro if needed, my car's pretty good for cramming things into 'specially with the back seats down. If you are OK for people to do such things, terrific; if you get pushed, feel free to give me a shout. It would be grand to see you again anyway. I'm not in bad shape at present, I really just need days when I can concentrate, focus and buckle down to be a) somewhat more in the majority, and b) longer!! The shortening days are starting to have their familiar (boring) effect rather, but in general I could be (and have been) much worse - better pills these days! In the event that you are successful in "getting yourself organised" can you let me in on the secret of how to do it, please??!! All very best wishes

I've had to call in my special techy man (next Wednesday) cos I can't work out how to set up the new Epson SX425W I bought. I did manage to connect so that the start light came on but that's it! I can read okay but nothing makes sense to me - couldn't even put the inks in. Wasted so much time - which I really can't afford at the moment. Peed off!!! MM

The setup guide I got with mine was in several languages on one huge folded sheet of paper, really difficult to follow > It's like washing powders 'n stuff, you need a magnifying glass to read the label and that's in different languages nowadays too > Once it's set up you'll be fine {{MM}} scylla x
