review?!

How do you become somebody who does reviews? I see loads of amature people doing video reviews, receiving free samples to do this

I'm pretty sure those people started off in two ways:
Very loyal customers of a certain site, so trusted and rewarded with products for review
Or
People who built up a following reviewing stuff paid for with their own money, so vendors want the exposure to that following and are happy to provide samples to ensure they see it.

Establish a reputation as a well respected and knowledgeable member of the vaping community . . . with a style that is appealing and likely to increase sales, would be some of the criteria I'd personally have, if I were a Vendor looking for a reviewer VapeKingMikes.

I'd imagine having a good technical set up/knowledge for recording would also be an advantage.

I agree with ionian and would lean towards his second way ... a vendor is only going to trust someone to review their product if that person has a proven expertise in either written or audio visual product reviewing.

Perpetua that is correct, it took me a long time spent on here before Toni asked me to review a few bits for her and now i have just spent a huge amount on a new pc to be able to edit the videos plus i have 2 expensive cameras that i use to film. Having a knowledge of camera settings has helped me massively with the videos.

I will add it takes up a huge amount of my time. A good hour to film the video no matter how long it is, things like setting up the camera, re takes etc, it then takes me an hour to edit the video, another 6 hours for that to render and then another hour and half to upload to youtube. I then have to put that across 4 forums, my facebook, twitter, instagram, tumbler, google+ and my blog. In the mean time you have to stay up to date with what's going on in the forum plus know what new kit is coming out all the time, what's popular, what's not. What people might like etc, it is never ending. My partner is forever moaning at me that vaping comes first but the upside is i do get free kit. Even the written reviews take time as well, probably the same as it takes me to film a video. You then have to keep people interested either with regular reviews or regular posts on blogs etc.

All this on top of a 70 hour working week and a son. It is difficult but absolutely love it.

Personally, in addition to an informative video/written review . . . I do also enjoy a piece that has a dash of humour thrown in. Not slapstick stuff, it might only be a one liner - but entertaining a viewer/reader as well as informing them of the technical aspects of something, also helps to win repeat views.

For me anyway.

Thats very helpful guys.... i will start by getting my name known around this fourm firsf. Then build up some relationships. I do reviews for xbox games so was wondering if it is the same type of thing for vaping. You have been very helpful

I quite agree Perps which is why the likes of Phil Busardo, Todd, Grimm Green etc have a huge You Tube fan base.
