Before anyone tells me to be careful, I have been. Has anybody else used salvaged 18650's. I've just got 4 laptop batteries, each contain 8 18650's. Making 32 batteries in all. I've only dismantled one, but all are the same, unused. The label said 14.8v 4300mah-4x2 in series(I think). I stripped the casing off and seperated the cells, and I am now trying out 4 of them(2x vaping, 2x charging). They work great. Have been using them for 4 days now. Am I dicing with death? When something goes wrong, what will happen?-we just punctured one in the garden to see and I am happy with that if it happens, shorted 2 and that was less-was expecting a bang or spark, just a kind of meltown, lots of heat. The ones I am using to vape are working like troopers. Any thoughts would be appreciated- except "be careful", because I have. Cheers.

Where did you get them from ? The office manager at work. Normally the conduit to mobile phones. While having a root around her drawers(oo,er) I spotted them, still sealed.

I've been using some that I got from an old laptop for a while now. I haven't had any problems. There is no mah quoted on mine, & they are old anyway, but I'm getting a lot less than 4300mah - less than half that.

The 8 batteries are connected in series and parallel. 4x 3.7v= 14.8v, 2 sets of these in paralell. With a charging circuit.

I also have about 8 old lappy batteries here, i wouldnt use them in a mech mod personally but in my Vamo they work fine. They dont last as long as my panasonic batteries, but they work perfect for day to day

I took some Panasonics from a surplus laptop that have been working fine for about 18 months.

Depends how knackered they are.
In my case, doing this would be a waste of time.

I have used batteries from laptops with no issues. Even one that would not hold charge at all. Strangely enough all the cells held charge just fine.

There are rumours that the charging circuits are programmed to only allow them to be recharged a set number of times. I can find no proof of this, seems to be a bit "conspiracy theory", to force us to buy more batteries. I've just got hold of a used Sony one with 6000mah(each cell should be 3000mah). I will compare these to the Dell ones I've been using.
