You know what else has varying degrees of flavouring and has a historical scientific study of contamination with ethylene glycol? Wine! ... but I'm sure Professor Dame Sally Davies doesn't touch the stuff. She's not a hypocrite.

I think we're paying too little attention to this threat too - she doesn't mention it, but I'd put my money on them lobbying to restrict trade online too.

I think your all getting a little over excited here and interpreting out of context. I'm the first to acknowledge that it's a scam and the desire to tax the ecig over fear of losing money as conventional cigs use decline. But was is said in the article is pretty much true, vaping could be detrimental to the health of youngsters and it should be discouraged through law. As an ex smoker I vape as an alternate to smoking and I'm pretty confident it's an healthier alternative but I may be wrong, on the balance of probability I've made my choice. The quote regarding PG in wine, how is that hypocritical, I have an old shed roof that contains asbetos but I don't intend to smash it up and inhale the dust anytime soon, it's about application and use. I'm sure some will condemn my view as they are so biased but lets apply a balanced view on what's actually been said rather than reading between the lines for the sake of argument. After all do you really want to turn into a football manager

My post on the huffington post was that it is good to ban to under 18s but I didn't see the need for all the anti vaping quotes. Also that most vendors already have an under 18 ban policy.

This from 2 years ago - www.nelincs.gov.uk/news/2012/jan/use-cigarettes-care-warn-trading-standards-officers/"There are also concerns that e-cigarettes may encourage young people to start smoking, particularly because of their novelty value and the common assumption that they are safe. The devices are not currently covered by any age restriction legislation, although some conscientious manufacturers voluntarily state on the product label that the items should not be sold to under-18s. Young people who start to use e-cigarettes could easily become addicted to nicotine and many will progress to smoking cigarettes as well as or instead of e-cigarettes" "Neil Clark, community protection manager, said: “....“The amount of nicotine and other substances a person gets from each cartridge may be uncertain and many people may not know how much nicotine they are taking in when using the devices. Different brands of e-cigarettes may deliver markedly different amounts of nicotine vapour with each puff,...." Exactly the same shite as they're saying today however 2 years down the line STILL no evidence of youth uptake of cigarettes via ecigs.

I don't understand the argument that if young people start with ecigs they are likely to progress to analogues. I can only see that as a potential if ecigs were taxed such that it was cheaper to smoke than vape.
