I was just wondering when selling something in the Classified section can the sale be done by payment directly into the bank instead of PayPal?
I am thinking of selling something and wondered if this is possible, also is it an instant transfer from bank to bank in the UK?
Thanks

Yes & Yes I do it all of the time, all you need is the name of the person you're transferring to, their sort code and account number. I then just set them up as a payee. I have Perpetua set up on my account. I have also set someone up in Spain as a payee so it's possible to do International transfers, UK to UK is instant but international may take 24 hours.

I've never understood some people's reluctance to do so, and over-reliance on PayPal. It's the norm in Germany.

Some people, like me, don't like sending details, like account numbers etc, to total strangers over the internet.

Yeah, that's understandable.
Small hint though. If it's paypal fees your concerned about, you can avoid them by pre-loading you pp account from your bank. You don't pay fees ?hen paying from a paypal balance when sending friends & family.

The reason would be I am heading to the UK for a few weeks and have a few things to sell. I'd rather have the 'cash' so to speak in the UK than PayPal which is linked to my Thai bank account. Enough members, mods, Admin on here have got to know me over the last year or so they know who I am and I am not doing anything dodgy...lol..
If a uk bank to bank transfer is ok then I will get up the things I want to sell. Thanks for the replies..

Some people, like me, don't like sending details, like account numbers etc, to total strangers over the internet. I know I'm not going to persuade you otherwise, but it's your card details you need to be careful with. Every large corporation makes their bank account number publicly available. There's nothing sinister one can do with it. (Other than send money to you!)

That's probably true. I was never paranoid until I came to the UK and everyone was shredding stuff before throwing it out etc. We were much more relaxed in the colonies.

Fair enough. I won't bother with it, it was just an idea while I was in the UK. Mods may close this Thread if they wish.

There is nothing stopping you offering the sale with bank trans . If someone wants wants you have to sell then they need to pay the way you want it or leave it. Its everyones choice. I use bank trans all the time and never had an issue with sending and receiving payments

Thanks guys. It was going to be my 69 mod Eric's edition, but last night I sold it to a guy over here. I was gonna put it up for 85 quid with a few extras included but i got the same price this end without having to put it up for sale here.

Not directly to you, but PayPal friends and family doesn't offer anymore protection than direct transfer.. other than not passing out bank details(which would be useless to most people unless they have been tracking you for all your personal info I suppose, which is unlikely lol)
