I go for stealth vaping in these circumstances geordie_vaperSome members have been allowed to vape in their hospital beds, which is fab, but I have the feeling the way things are going that it'll soon not be allowed

Ecigs are included in our NHS smoking policy, so in theory you're not allowed to vape on the grounds. In practice there's not much that anyone can do about you vaping if you're not a member of staff.

ive just got back from the hospital now (missus is preg) although i was aloud to vape freely i dont think its the best thing for people to be doing in a ward full of people i think its just courtesy or at least on a maternity ward anyway thats my opinion anyway everyone has one

The trust I work for bans ecigs in ward areas as they're deemed a fire risk, however they do not stop people vaping on the grounds yet, but I think that might change in view of the latest comments from WHO, we are not allowed to promote them in any way.

Stealth vaping, if in doubt keep a low profile, if your asked not to Vape then just do it out of sight (loos, otherwise known as conveniences)

I work for the NHS in the community, and as far as I can see the no smoking on NHS grounds policy has gone by the wayside, impossible to police as the cutbacks in porters and security staff have deemed the policy low in priority. I vape in front of my patients, and bring them over to the light side, its part of my role of health promotion - outside. I wouldn't encourage on general wards as ignorance from non vapers may give the wrong impression.

Great post, but on the "ignorance from non capers" part I would say in reply you could convert them into vapers, well advise them into vaping

i remember when they first banned smoking on airplanes, I was on my way to Majorca and tried to have a crafty one in the loo. Set the smoke alarm off and got in alot of trouble (shameful..but I was v.young at the time...thats my excuse). I wonder when some bright spark will invent a vape detector!!

I am one of those people Karma referred to that was allowed to vape in my hospital bed. In fact, it was a heart and lung ward! When the consultant came to see me I told him I had just started vaping and he was extremely positive about it and said I could vape freely on the ward and in bed if I wished., so I did! This was 18mths ago though, but I haven't heard anything to the contrary that we can't do it anymore at that hospital so I presume things are still the same.
