Confirmed. Details such as the party name and the full pro-ecig manifesto will be finalised as soon as possible. I will be standing against Linda McAvan MEP as a libertarian pro-ecig candidate Good stuff Matt! prepare for daft question.... when n how can we vote for you?!

Two offerings from different sources re manifesto
1st offering "So let battle commence! As will be fairly obvious, up to now we have had no say in the proposals and dispositions relating to what is a red-hot part of the TPD - the e-cig. The purpose behind fielding an UKVIP candidate is to raise our profile and, hopefully engage more of the vaping community who do not frequent forums - ie the vast majority - in the process. We should be very wary that we are not used by anyone for their own political ends, and should be careful not to waste fire-power in areas where we already have "friends", in this context a friend is someone who is not opposed to us, and I would not wish to see us split a friendly vote. What we need are "number crunchers" to give us a picture of previous turn-outs/majority figures/proposed friendly candidates. I can think of a whole bunch of statistics experts on here - dodderer is cruncher-in -chief. There is another aspect to political involvement. In 2015 the gagging law will apply, which will effectively stifle all comment other than that pertaining directly to the election. Let's see what we can do."
2nd offering "To spread awareness of the story of e-cigarettes to the general population regarding costs and safety .Also to highlight the lack of EU and UK Government transparency in their attempts to introduce legislation.Highlight rival UK National parties lack of published policy.
To field as many candidates in all Elections whether local, National, or European as finances and candidates permit , the spreading of detailed knowledge is an ongoing campaign
Funding to be by donation made by private individuals and a commercial website selling logo'd paraphernalia such as e-juice, devices, clothing etc for the sole benefit of campaign funds . Any assistance from SME e-cig companies(up to a max £5000) shall be allowed, providing this does not imply any favours or deeds expected in return with respect to policy or actions "
Any more or would someone like to have some input at merging the better bits of these 2 ..... Anything will help !!!! The reference to UKVIP = United Kingdom Vaping Independence Party ...THE PROBABLE NAME!

Is the name to be UKVIP? It's a bit too similar to UKIP which is what I read it at initially

Have you got a word limit?

good suggestion about using full or the full . No there are no word limits the manifesto can be as long or as short as required . Take your point though if too long people will not read it .

Is the name to be UKVIP? It's a bit too similar to UKIP which is what I read it at initially Sorry my reply got lost somewhere babs . The name is similar (not deliberately so), but does not United Kingdom Vaping Independence Party have a good sound to it , maybe any confusion of names could work to our unintended advantage on polling day, if the votes cast for ourselves and UKIP get mixed or confused ?

Great idea but might open you up to legal trouble if UKIP think you are trying to use their name to further someone else's political agenda. Trying to confuse people with similar names might be frowned upon especially with something that is taken seriously like elections. But the idea is awesome for a UK vapers party to go up against the current MPs, I'd replace my useless feckwit MP in a heartbeat (Think Blaze is Bristol based so not sure if that applies in South Glos.) If McCraven loses her seat to a vaping party, the joy would be immeasurable

A mix of good and bad news ........ I mentioned two days ago that a 2nd candidate had put his name forward LIAM BRYAN (Blaze on forums) , Matt posted afterwards
that he would happily stand aside for Liam to be the primary candidate , this is now the case and we should all FULLY SUPPORT LIAM . Matt has made it clear that he
feels he couldn't devote the necessary time towards campaigning that he would desire , but will remain fully and actively supportive of these efforts.

It must surely rest on Liam's personal politics, mustn't it? A term in Strasbourg with almost no chance to say anything about electronic cigarettes would be a very lonely and despiriting time without other political interests.

Without me going through a list there have been many examples of political parties that have used very similar names ... "passing off" I disagree that was not the original intention when the name was considered
