That bought a flashback of childhood memories. Main one being out in my tomboy dungarees and baseball boots, hair right down to my bum. I convinced a friend it would be a good idea to climb up the walls of the old brick barn that other kids said was haunted. I shinned and scrambled like mad just to get onto a window ledge to peep inside. It was a bit of a let down just to find a donkey munching straw in there. Safely sat on the ledge it suddenly dawned on me how high up I was. I was too scared to jump and started crying. My friend had to run all the way home to get my dad to come lift me off!! yes, childhood was a learning curve in those days. We had to do daft things and make mistakes AND have the freedom to make them to learn from. Kids are way too wrapped in cotton wool these days. It seriously does worry me the generation we are moulding.

Our kids were brought up the same way as we were. Motorcrossers,Sledging on car bonnets, Riding toy tractors down the garden with one on the bonnet and one in the trailer and its a steep garden lol. Didn't harm us and it hasn't harmed them. Ok there has been the odd bump and scratch but makes for a more rounded individual I think.

The kids of today I feel so sorry for them ,they have missed out on so much, not their fault, the world is a different place now, they can't have the freedom we had , they don't have the imagination to do the do the things we loved and it was all free! For me , it was a great life and I am grateful I was born in that era, it made me the person I am today, old but ageless, learning to embrace this new technological world and to accept that nothing stays the same.

Great little film... brought back many memories. My Mum took me to primary school on my first few days (early 50s), then it was up to me to get there, a several mile walk through country lanes crossing a stream over a rickety walk way and usually not another person in sight. An older boy (about 7 haha) picked on me that first day, and apparently I decked him... he became a best mate and I had no trouble for the rest of my school life. When the school day finished, didn't know what time I'd get home, depended on what my friends were doing... playing footie, climbing trees, making a raft on the river, kissing the girls in the local farmer's barn etc. As long as I was back before dark. Didn't realise at the time how lucky we were.

Great video andy01424 - those were indeed the days (the black and white days lol). The kids these days have no real life preparation for adulthood where they learn that not everyone can be a winner and that all actions have consequences.
