Me too, talk about narrow minded, it did start a bit of a debate though, so I leapt on my soap box for a few minutes to highlight the benefits of ecigs, just to balance things abit, so not all bad I spose... I know how easy it is to be careless, I have a cat that loves chewing cotton buds, I have to be so careful not to leave any used for cleaning flooded batteries etc lying around just in case, I'm sure there wouldn't be enough liquid on them to harm her but I don't want to risk it

A friend of mine shared the aforementioned post on FB earlier today. I basically replied along the lines of "please don't lay this at the feet of e-cigs. Would this have made the press if a puppy had regrettably died from eating some cigarettes, or swallowing a piece of Lego?" He hasn't commented yet, but is an infrequent poster, so I don't read anything into that. He also knows that I use e-cigs so was probably expecting a comment from me! Local rumour has it that this chap is a bit of a prat anyway, so not a great surprise. Very sad to hear about the death of a puppy though, although I'm not a dog lover. The big message that we need to promote is that ejuice is of course poisonous, and needs to be kept in the same way as bleach or white spirit, i.e. well away from the reach of children and pets (I do believe I've seen that written on an ejuice label!).

Obviously the dogs owner is visually impaired.......... And unless I'm very much mistaken, that looks like a child-proof lid to me. In fact I'm yet to come across any liquid that hasn't had a child-proof lid. Something doesn't feel right about the whole story, but that could just as easily be explained by the bloke being a prat as it could the whole thing being made up. Not that my cat or dog have ever had the opportunity to get anywhere near my liquids, but this story has made me feel even twitchier about keeping them away from my gear and that can only be a good thing.

Yes, I think it is a child proof lid, but, puppies baby teeth are like little needles. One crunch on a plastic bottle is liable to puncture it, and easily leak the liquid into its mouth.

It has been a while since I've had a pup, but I know the feeling of being nipped by them! The only reason I mentioned the lids was the facebook post (from the bloke, right?) that criticised liquids for not coming in suitable bottles. We all know that the vast majority do and also have ample warning of how dangerous the content can be, but his comments annoyed me.

That looks like a tamper evident cap, rather than a childproof cap and the Toxic logo isn't big enough to be compliant.
Not that the dog could have read it anyway - but the supplier could be in trouble with TS.

It has been in the Metro today - full page - what more than the little skull for poison - even if it's not the right size - it's still there and the owner knows it - do they need ? - and as much as I know it's actually 'only' the nicotine which is highly poisonous tragic accidents can happen - even that the bottle dropped to the floor and he did not notice it - but don't blame e-liquids and stain the life of vapers

I think the man is selling his story around a few newspapers and I bet he doesn't donate it to any animal charities. He has certainly done a very good publicity job spreading the news of his puppy far and wide. Shame he didn't put as much effort into the storage of his eliquid. VE Jason any ideas where the liquid may have come from as I am sure someone would be happy to report it to TS. Shouldn't all eliquid bottles have child proof tops. I know child proof tops would not have prevented the puppy piercing the bottle. Poor puppy.

Maybe his dogs formed a canine pyramid so that the little'un could get her nicotine fix? How else could a pup of that size get onto a 3ft high dining room table? Wait? What? The capsule, sorry bottle, might not have been on a table?
As a dog owner and vaper, I really shouldn't joke about this, but he is right and tighter restrictions are needed. On who can own dogs and not vapping.*
*Deliberate, I couldn't resist.

I have two dogs and two cats. The cats can get anything anywhere if they want it, they find a way. So my eliquid is under lock and key. Simple. It's common sense. No rocket science.
Suppose he's be all for banning chocolate had the dog gotten a massive bar of galaxy.
Pity the RSPCA don't prosecute owners for their stupidity costing an animal it's life.

Every year I see stories about people who have lost cats from ingesting the pollen of lilies. Losing a pet is always a terribly sad thing, but not once have I seen a story about lilies that has placed the blame with or lashed out at florists. Most, if not all, of the people in question seem to accept that their ignorance has cost the life of their pet and genuinely want to prevent it from happening to anyone else.
The various different versions of this story seem to be all about what happened to the bloke with a touch of e-cig bashing thrown in for good measure and a little bit of a warning tacked on at the end. I get the impression that the attention and money he'll probably be getting for selling the story mean more to him than warning other pet owners and that makes me incredibly sad.
