Brass has lead in it, and lead is bad for you. How bad, in these quantities, I don't know. On the one hand, not as bad as smoking, on the other, it has been blamed for the fall of the Roman empire.
Of course, if the chrome remains intact, it isn't a problem.
I have an atty with a chrome-plated brass deck (Rocket). I don't use it much, because once I've scratched the chrome on the deck I shall probably stop using it altogether.

With so many steel options on FT, IMO it's not worth taking the risk with a brass deck for the sake of a couple of quid. Whether it's worth the hysteria it causes on the FT forums I don't know, but if you do go for one only use it while the chrome plating is intact. It's not worth risking poisoning (!) your juice.

Personally I don't see it as much of a problem. The temperatures needed to break down brass are much higher than your coil will ever get. I haven't heard of a single case of vape related lead poisoning. It's not just FT who use brass either. Some high end atties have brass posts.

I'm no expert but aren't most taps and fittings in our houses brass supplied in many cases by lead water pipes? I know lead is a problem that's why it's being eliminated from water supplies but it's present at about 2% in some brass alloys how much is realistically going to leach out of an atty? Just my spin on it, I would welcome someone putting me straight on the matter

I'm no expert either, but I think its something to do with the oxidisation of the brass allows small particles of lead (like really small!) to get out of the brass. Oxidisation is increased with temperature, and certain chemicals (alcohol definitely being one).
I don't think water running through lead pipes causes such problems, and doesn't oxidise the brass components in this way.
I may be spouting yarbles though, as I've had a couple of shandies.
My rocket did leave FT today though, in hot pursuit of my SS kayfun clone.
As someone up there said, as long as the chrome plate is in tact, it won't be a problem anyway.

Just a tuppence worth.. I've had a .22 lead slug in my temple for about 35 odd yrs, (y'know what it's like when kids play with guns!) I've spoken to quite a few doc's over the years, they've all told me it would take so long for the lead to break down and cause a problem the risk is negligible..

no its the taifun gt clone am looking at, although i think that will be geting added into the basket for next month haha The Fasttech taifun GT now comes with a stainless steel deck - it was only the first batch (before Christmas) that had the chrome plated brass deck and FT replaced these decks with SS decks for everyone who received them.
