I was checking one of my yahoo inboxes which I use for rubbish and have never used for Paypal. There was an email saying from Paypal. Looking at it, seems they were trying to get me to reapply before 8th March to keep my account active. Avast picked up and sent to chest a file it called 'bank fraud scam'. A bit of brief research shows this to be a notorious scam. I'm sure most may be aware of this but for those who aren't..... Be on your guard!

Ignore any email purporting to come from PayPal that doesn't address you by your full name and NEVER download or open any attached document. If in doubt forward the email to spoof@paypal.co.uk and Paypal will check it out.

I got one supposedly from Paypal yesterday, saying my account had been suspended & to click on the link to resolve the issue No way was I clicking onto the link (hovering over it,I could see it wasn't a true paypal link anyway). Instead I opened a new window & logged into my paypal account - surprise, surprise (not), no suspension.

I also get these emails, and from banks that I don't even bank with... and I can only say... NEVER, EVER... open them or if you do, never click on any links within them. No respectable financial website will ever email you for information. If you get one of these, just log into your bank/whatever using your normal, safe login and any messages (not likely) will be there. Remember, the dick heads that do this can replicate the appearance of your normal site very easily, even I could do it. So the message is... NEVER respond in ANY WAY to these emails. You know it makes sense!

The cold calls are easy to stop. Unplug the phone. I have a connection for internet, but haven't had a phone for years. The only thing I miss is abusing the cold callers. Now I have to wait for Jehovahs Witnesses to knock on the door.

I would happily Fagin, unfortunately it's the only way that my elderly parents who live a fair distant from me, have of getting in contact. In their mid eighties, I need to be contactable at all times. So I'm rather stuck with a landline, as they won't do mobile phones . . . or have any form of modern technology, which includes an ansaphone.

1st. scan your computer with your antivirus (unplug your network cable first). 2nd. install an antimalware and scan again. 3rd. if is necessary uninstall the old antivirus and install a new one from a different company.4th. USE onboard keyboard when you login in to your accounts. in this way they can not detect what you type . 5th.ask PayPal to confirm that email. hope this help.-- i'm open for any questions about computer security--

Mine are in their 80s as well, and in South Africa, but fortunately have cell phones and internet, so it's easy. Having a company cell phone also helps - all free.

I have had 2 in 6 days sent them to paypal I removed it promptly but may forward any in future, though I'm sure they've got plenty to go on! I run antivirus and Spybot S&D. Its a clever scam as they can drain your Bank through PP! I feel sorry for those more vulnerable who may fall foul of this scam/fraud.
