No matter what coil I build in my kayfun lite plus I keep getting dry hits, I thought I had this sorted with thinning my juice down a bit with vodka but its made little difference. Ive followed the tutorials by rip tripper and Super-Shiny. I make sure my wick is pushed against the wall of the build deck away from the juice channels and that the coil is raised off the deck but im still encountering the same problems. Im using cotton wool as wick as I find it easier to build with. Ive tried a thin wick thick wick and everywhere in between. After spending lots of cash on this tank im not seeing any benefit from it, im getting a better vape from my aerotank. Talking of the aerotank ive tried rebuiling the heads with a twin micro and cotton following paulymeatballs guide but all I get it flooding, a tight draw and a gob full of juice. someone please help im really losing patience with all this

I spent some time over the last few days reviewing the kayfun thread over on ecf, it's about 600 pages long ! Although there seems to be two camps there is one camp that insists contrary to popular opinion that pushing the wicks against the juice wall is wrong. They suggest that you should in fact place the cotton wicks directly over the juice channels although obviously don't force them into the channels. Tried this yesterday and bingo, no dry hits at all since.

Is it a clone or genuine? i only ask as i have never tried a clone of the Kayfun so i don't know if there is much difference.
Of the top of my head may a pressure thing, maybe try and fill the Kayfun real slow......i know you mention thinning but what VG ratio is it?

Ok, if you're getting dry hits with cotton you may have burnt the cotton onto the coil. In my experience, this coil will always taste burnt now, so you need to rebuild it.
With a new coil, you need you get the right amount of cotton. It should be thin enough to pass through without catching, but fill the coil entirely. Once it's passed though, unwind it a little, trim it, put juice on it and fluff it up a little with tweezers or a screwdriver. Put the chimney on with the cap off, and check the wick position. Then reassemble and fill.
Have you ever had a good vape from it? It could be that the juice channels aren't cut deep enough. Try a simple silica wick, three strands of 2mm silica inside 4 turns of 0.2mm kathnal. Use a needle when coiling to ensure you don't wrap too tight. If this works, it's your cotton that's the problem. If it doesn't, it may be the juice channels.

70% VG sounds like the problem tbh....that is high in VG.
I even had a few issues with 50/50 (juice depending as some concentrates seem to be thicker once mixed with others)

Try cutting your cotton the same width as the kf base, then push the wicks up vertically and add the lower chimney section. Push both wicks down from the top and over the top of the juice channels, gently you want them sitting on top of the channels not pushed into them. Then plenty of juice on the wink and coil u til it seeps out a little below the lower chimney and into the lower horizontal channels. Stick the top chimney on and try a vape as is. If your happy with this taste then fill her up and away you go. If she's wicking correctly you should replicate that first chimney vape continually. Also if flavour drops of occasionally place your finger over the airfoils and take a short vape which will draw more licking into the chimney and revitalise wicking again, be careful with this though as too hard a draw and you'll flood it and juice will flow out of the air hole. If this happens turn the kf upside down and blow with a piece of tissue in front of the air hole to catch excessive juice. Hope that helps, I'm no kayfun expert but I'm learning fast. I'm expecting two oem KFL+ from cloud9 tomorrow. Preservere mate, it's worth it

dry hits sounds like you have filled it too fast also strip it and blow out through the deck air hole and from the out side air hole make sure nothing is blocking the airway. i use silica (2mm) and ekowool (2mm) as the trusted double navy nest and it works superb

i would check the juice channels if it is a clone!if you look at the deck from above you should be able to see half moons where the channels come up to the deck!i got a kfl clone and had probs with dry hits, got the needle files to it and opened them up little at a time! hope that makes sense
