I used to do a lot of printing, and the HP Laserjet was great.
However, since I gave up that business, and now only do a bit of private printing on a Deskjet I've had nothing but trouble. Have currently got an HP Deskjet 4580 and when it worked it was fine... apart from the regular 'paper feed' problem. The inks have recently run out, and have received replacements from 'Printer Cartridge People' but it doesn't want to know. So I guess I'll have to buy the 'rip off' branded ink.
So my question is... does anyone know of a printer that doesn't keep jamming and the ink refills are at a reasonable cost?

Funny you should mention this, i spoke to my local ink cartridge shop and asked if you was to buy a printer that is good and also cheap for replacement cartridges he said "Brother, without a doubt"
He didn't give a model number though.

I think, unless you need the colour, get another laser. Cheaper per page, and if you don't print much then the inkjets keep drying up.
I have both (it isn't the printers that cost the money, its the toner/inkjets) and the inkjet is usually not working except as a scanner.

I am with giles - go with a laser - specially if you 'only' print the odd document - curries often has good offers - or also look on amazon they start at about £30 - look here

Saying that the person i spoke to did say go with a laser printer if you don't intend to print color as the cartridge will last ages but when the cartridge needs replacing they can be quite expensive but last ages

the problem is not so much the cartridges - but if you don't use the printer for a while it dries - and the results are not good - you don't have this problem with a laser

I've had several brands of inkjets including Brothers and Epsons. I currently have a Canon which does printing, scanning and faxing. It's great. I got it from Argos for £35, and when I bought it the salesperson asked if I wanted to add spare inks to my order. I asked how much and he said for a colour and b&w cartridge ..... £35. It's as cheap to throw the bugger away and buy a new one! Madness

I got ours from Argos last year its an Epson SX235W i can print by wifi & inks only cost £6 for the full set from Doncaster market. Very occaisionally when i replace an ink (they all go in seperately) it will say 'please only use genuine Epson products but i just take the ink out then put the same ink back in & it is ok.
edit: it only cost £39.99 too.
