I received this battery today, I will not say where I got it from but it was not a retailler. Its an efest 1100mah imr 18500 Li-Mn 3.7v The labels a little tatty due to use but no problem Positive pole no problem. Negative pole huge problem The insulating wrapper on this battery is coming away, some people may think this is a cosmetic issue. Right? Wrong! This can lead to imminent battery failure! Which is very dangerous if it was to go whilst vaping on it or it it shorted on something inside say a storage draw. Only if you know what your doing! You could fix this with some heat shrink. If not then bin it! Batteries are cheap enough not to risk your safety over now looking back at the picture what else do you notice? Nothing? Look again! The entire negative pole has been forced inward, presumably by being over tightened in a telescopic mod. This now is an unusable extremely dangerous battery. That should be disposed of immediately before there is any chance this battery could be put to use. With the forced used to push this end cap in, it could have cracked the sealed unit inside, leadimg to dangerous battery failure again please take battery safety seriously, for your own safety and the reputation of vaping. If exploding battery stories get I to the media. That would be yet another reason to ban large devices be safe steve

Take it you got it second hand in a trade or something.
Been a little bit overtightened to say the least. Maybe mod was tightened with molegrips!

Thats a shocker steve And i did notice the negative end pushed in straight away. and also is worth mentioning? not to charge anything battery wise over night or if your out. Had a nasty incident happen to me, a year ago when a 900mah battery just exploded like a rocket. Was not good and do have the pics somewhere. Will find them and put them up later. But that battery is going the same plaice as my Squape from craptech In the nearest bin Always buy batteries new, never from a second hand source, as they are the most important part to our vapeing, and does quite often get overlooked, as others would tell you on here. Good post steve Cheers......Rick

Looks like 'Bin Fodder' to me.
Why would someone feel the need to tighten a mod so much that it would do that to a battery?

good one steve keep the original owners name between you and them everyone is entitled to make mistakes but it is a good job you ended up with the battery so you can do the safe thing with it and bin it but make sure you tell the original owner to check there remaining batteries

Shame people selling rechargeable batteries don't also include safety information more often. Most people on forums will know to some degree, though some more than others... But non forum readers.may be less informed, taking uneeded risks without knowing. Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using proboards

I was give this advice, 'Replace your batteries after a years use, no matter what they look like".
When the time comes what do you do with your damaged/redundant batteries? It's fine to say 'Bin it', but how do you dispose of your batteries?

But is it considered safe to chuck a hand full of batteries into a box with a pile of other batteries?
