But is it considered safe to chuck a hand full of batteries into a box with a pile of other batteries?

I've wondered that myself @scooby so haven't used it yet I suppose you could wrap them in cling film or something ???

Ah Thanks, now you come to mention it I think i have seen one in a Co-op as well. But is it considered safe to chuck a hand full of batteries into a box with a pile of other batteries?

We've a battery re-cycling box at our store, they all go in as they are . . . no mishaps to report.

Some Local Authorities will also provide a dinky battery recycling caddy, which is collected on green waste day - that very much depends on your LA services though.
