Hi all,

I joined a few days ago. I've been lurking, or more accurately, reading avidly for about two weeks. So much good info. Facts, opinions, all great stuff, so first off ... a big thank you to all for my education so far.

I wish I'd found this site before I started but that was never going to be the case. Let me explain.

I have smoked heavily for over 40 years but I spend a lot of time abroad and had not bought any cigs/tobacco in the UK for many years. £3/£4 for 50g meant cost was almost no issue. About a month ago, having been in the UK longer than expected, I ran out of tobacco. Popped down to the supermarket and having queued for a bit (when did they start hiding everything away?), I had to ask the price. After they picked me up, I remembered a little shop advertising e-cigs which I was vaguely aware of and staggered off to find out more.

To cut a long story short, I got set up with a 'not so cheap' cheap kit. An eGo battery, charger, a couple of CE4s and some juice. It did the job, although not exactly well, but after a week or so I realised I was going to survive. I picked up a couple of really cheap (£5) starter kits on the market to give me spare batteries, chargers and some more CE4s. They were just as good (or bad) as those from the shop but an awful lot cheaper. I realised it was the CE4's (at least the one's I had) that were so poor and inconsistent. The batteries are actually fine for what they are. There had to be something better.

Then, about two weeks ago, I found this site. Wow.

I'll bet I've spent hours each night since then reading here, not to mention exploring the fantastic links everyone so kindly posts for the benefit of others.

My first priority was to get stocked up with enough kit at a reasonable cost to get me through my next stay abroad. I'm not yet at the stage of seeking perfection, far from it, only needing reliable, consistent gear to keep me off the 'stinkies' (as you seem to call them here) having come so far so quickly. Oh, and so suddenly and unexpectedly!

Armed with all the helpful info from here, I bought a load of evods, spare coils, and a protank mini (pyrex) for 'tank-buster' liquids. Yes, from a supplier found here.

Sorted!

The evods are not exactly top of the range and not the only cheap option, I know, I'm looking forward to exploring more later, but they are so much better and more importantly consistent than the rubbish I bought originally ... and cheaper! ... cheap enough to stock up loads ... and spare coils for a quid! They'll see me through my stay. I would hate to think the poor quality stuff put any smokers off e-cigs, that would be a travesty. (Note to EU : That's no excuse for banning the good stuff)

With a spare week or so before I go, I've since had the time to order some samples - supplier found on here obviously - and still have time to order liquids for mixing to take with me. I already have a ready supply of cheap, decent enough e-liquid locally, but hey, I seem to be getting caught up in all this already. Your fault. 

Blimey, I've gone on a bit there, sorry.

What can I say ... great site, great people.

Now I'd better go and do the petitions.

Quite frankly, I am distressed you didn't spend £100s on E-Lites, 10 Motives, skycigs or Nicolites, like the rest of the UK.

Such satisfying products. Incredible Vapour and such terrific value.

Not so cheap is a bargain compared to these pointless and disgraceful products. One day, trading standards will get them... and I shall enjoy that immensely.

Sounds like you got off lightly to me.... the rest of your story is just marvelous!!
