I have 0.25 kanthal and 6 wraps around a 2mm jewellers screwdriver gives me about 1.2 ohms in a protank head, but what size kanthal would I use if I wanted to do less wraps? It comes in so many different sizes 0.15, 0.2, 0.25, 0.35 etc, would I need thicker kanthal for less wraps? or thinner? Is there some way of working out how many wraps you need for each size?

If you wanted to do less wraps and get the same resistance then you need to use thinner wire.

Have a look at this, it tells you everything you need to know regarding different wires and lengths and what ohms the variants give. you need to download the program. It is very precise and the figures given are very close to what my ohms tester shows. Its a bit like a juice recipe calculator..........but for wire Have fun. www.e-ciginfo.net/index.php?topic=2938.0Edit. Oops sorry Jase, I think I have linked to the same program as you. A fantastic aid for coiling.
