Hi all, I just joined up after following a link from another (unrelated) forum I frequent. I've never considered e-cigs before but figure i'd like to try it for health and interest reasons. I spend a lot of time out of the house, mostly at work or in the car and I'm usually pushed for time, so will grab a quick cig break when I get a few spare minutes to pop out. Because of this I figure a system that doesn't need refilling or recharging too often is a good way to go. The Echo 510 starter kit looks like the best option so far on this, so I was thinking I'd order that with a 10ml pick n mix so I can try some different flavours. I currently smoke 10-15 tailor made cigs per day and I'm usually not too keen on the throat hit from these. Now for the questions... Does the kit I'm thinking of buying make sense for my requirements, or is there something better I should be looking at? Should I be looking for something with nicotine in it to start with and try to ween myself down, or just go straight for nicotine free? Are there any pros and cons for getting either PG only or PG/VG? Can anyone recommend any flavours? Many thanks in advance, and I may think of some more questions so I hope y'all don't mind J

Welcome to the forum jmc I'm sure it won't be long before you get some answers. Also, keep the questions coming, it's part & parcel of vaping.

Hi jmc and welcome The Echo would suit you fine, as would a Riva or Ego. I wouldn't go with zero nicotine to start with, but you can always reduce the nicotine content as you get used to the kit and vaping in general. You are right to get a few flavours because you probably won't like some and there's nothing worse than being stuck with a flavour you don't like and not having an alternative. The Echo cartridges (Echomisers) hold a lot of liquid so do not need filling or topping up as often as smaller cartomisers, such as the Boge or Kanger ones. However, it can be handy to have some smaller options for flavour testing.

Hi JMC, Welcome to the forum, if you are seriously thinking of making the switch to Vaping from smoking then congratulations on making a very wise choice, not just for your health but also for your pocket, lol, which cannot be a bad thing either. As for what you have asked, I am a newbie myself and started off on the look-a-like ciggies but very quickly (less than 1 week !) I progressed to the 510 system myself and I certainly do not regret it at all, I still use my look-a-like but the 510 is a far better option. As for the nicotine, well I would suggest getting atleast a 10ml bottle of 16mg nic to get you going or otherwise you may find that you return to the dreaded cancer sticks very quickly, any flavour you fancy but we are all accustomed to the flavour of tobacco and that may also be a good place to start too. The 510 comes in many various guises tank, cartomisers and cartridges....what one was you looking at ? As a suggestion, the 510 cartomiser maybe your best option as it is the least fiddly and very simple to use, just a basic 2pc system that allows you to change the cartomisers within a minute, no liquids and no fuss. But remember that the cartomisers will need refilling and this can be done at your leisure, just make sure to get a good amount, say 10 to get you going and just take it from there. Hope this helps

Thanks for the replies so far guys I'm not entirely sure which option I was looking at re headhunter's question, it was the Echo 510 Mega Kit from Vapeescape. I'm just wondering about the battery options.. It seems all the kits I've looked at come with manual batteries. Are these better? Are there any kits out there that come with automatic ones? jason thanks for the suggestions, is there an addin to the kit you'd recommend for flavour testing? I was planning on just switching out the echomisers seeing ad it comes with 5 of them.

I noticed you mention your not tha tkeen on throat hit. PG gives more throat hit and less vapour than vg does, and 1 or 2 people have alergys to it or find it a little harsh. Majority of people are fine with it though, but if you want less throat hit go for a juice more towards the vg end of the scale.

You can certainly use the Echomisers jmc, but you would be committing 2ml+ of e-liquid to one.
Then if you didn't like it, you would either need to vape it anyway whilst topping up with another flavour or flush it out and allow it to dry.
There are 2 options for testing...either a standard 510 atomiser and drip tip - which you just drip a few drops of e-liquid into and vape.
Or Boge Cartomisers, which are like a mini Echomiser and just take 1ml of e-liquid for the first fill.
The Echo batteries are 510 fitting, so are compatible with a wide range of alternative fittings.

Not quite The Echomisers are not for dripping through so forget the Echomiser drip tip - it's just an alternative shaped tip for the Echomiser (I know the term drip tip confuses the issue). A standard 510 atomiser would be better or a pack of the Standard Boge cartomisers. Don't worry about the drip tip, I'll add one of them anyway. You can always email me if it's easier, before you buy anything. Just use the contact form on the website and I'll get right back to you. That way, I can give you as much information as you like

Right, so I hadn't got the idea at all :/ I think I've found what I need now, thanks very much for the help and I'll definitely contact you through the store to double check so thanks for that I have one more question before I fully decided on this item (Sorry!) What's the overall length of the Echo 510? I can't seem to find the info so far.

Wow, really! That seems pretty big. Is that about normal for these devices?
Is that for extra battery life and/or the larger capacity for the juice?

Bit of both. The batteries are 1100mAh and the Echomiser holds 2ml+ of juice. That said, it's exactly the same length if you use a Boge Cartomiser and standard drip tip. The Ego is the same and the Riva is about 12mm shorter. It's the compromise for longer vaping time
