Our dearly departed cat Bj hated fireworks, and would just freeze, he had to be in Steve's office on the sofa with a quilt right over him and he wouldn't come out for hours ??? Steve even had to put a big note on top of the quilt saying cat under here so the kids wouldn't jump on him. Who decided to call him that ?

Well Milo isn't scared of fireworks, thunder nor gunfire (we live beside military firing range) But click a pen beside him & he totally freaks!!! runs around the house barking like a lunatic ???? Crazy springer but adorable We always had black labs & we had 2 that were terrified of fireworks we had to get the vet to give them a pill to make them sleepy & dull the noise. I would ban fireworks i feel so sorry for pets & wildlife it must be terrifying for them

Voted.
Fortunately Demon Cat has never been overly bothered - just rather miffed that I won't let him out if there are fireworks going off.
Big Dog has got so little hearing left that she rarely hears them go off now. I just have to watch that if we're out on a walk and one is let off so it explodes in her line of sight e.g. at the other side of the field, she wuff's a battle-cry and then charges off in the direction of the lights to save the world from invasion.

I remember when I first brought Mungo home, three years ago now, from the Rescue centre.
It took him a week or so to realise that he was at his 'forever' home.
Then came November and the fireworks....... He was petrified! My sister was here that first night. It was tipping down with rain but the fireworks were still going off. I knew Mungo needed to use his 'bathroom'...
I put my coat on over the top of my dressing gown, picked up a bag of treats and went to sit in the garden. Mungo stayed indoors but occasionally poked his nose out to see where I was.
After 30 minutes or so, he crept into the garden and was treated. Firework went off and he was back indoors!
This went on for nearly two hours. I stayed where I was, he really wanted to be with me and he wanted the treats. He kept coming out, staying a little longer each time. I talked to him about what was happening, told him when the bangs were going to be loud, pointed out how pretty the lights were, fed him etc.
Finally, by about 11pm, he was sitting in the garden, leaning on my leg, and looking at me for a treat every time there was a 'bang'.
I was lucky that he was so willing to be with me, that he sort of trusted me with his safety.
My sister thought I was the barking one that night!!

If it's just the pressure that does the job, maybe a handyperson could make their own Which means that if I had a scared doggie I'd buy one scylla x

Mungo's reindeer costume has the same effect on him. Worth looking at children's tee shirts that are going to be a snug fit. For weeny dogs, you can use an ACE bandage.
