Fireworks were illegal here for many years, but a few years ago they were made legal. Some nights, especially in the summer, it sounds like there is a war going on.
When I was young, I used to play with them, but I outgrew that.

I had gundogs for many, many years, and all of them were trained not to be afraid of fireworks or guns, by the simple expedient of banging cupboard doors while they ate - it's not hard to do, and you can do it with any domesticated animal (barring goldfish... they're a sod to train)...

Max doesn't seem to be worried about fireworks, but he's scared of thunder. The year before last I was walking home from work and a still burning rocket missed my face by a few inches. I walked home last year staring at the sky the whole time. When I was a kid, rockets didn't 'scream' and bang like they do now. And there were no fireworks at midnight on New Years day or on peoples birthdays. My opinion on them is they should be banned, but it's not going to happen, so they should only be used at organised events for safety's sake. But they'd still scare wildlife, so cruel. *Off to sign the petition*

Signed. Dare I say it . . . I'll miss the trauma this time of year brings, Sammy was petrified of fireworks/thunder/loud bangs . . . any noise out of the ordinary really. The best solution I found, was to buy a crate and a cheap fleece throw . . . dress him in a tshirt that I had worn and not washed, he would then go into his 'bunker' . . . I'd pull the fleece over the crates door opening and there he would stay with me sleeping on the floor beside him.

Our dearly departed cat Bj hated fireworks, and would just freeze, he had to be in Steve's office on the sofa with a quilt right over him and he wouldn't come out for hours ??? Steve even had to put a big note on top of the quilt saying cat under here so the kids wouldn't jump on him.

I personally hate ALL fireworks. However, I also support the ban on the grounds of scaring animals, so I have signed it. The local Morrisons will start selling fireworks on 15th October not even close to bonfire night.
