hi
been struggling with coiling , followed shineys excellent instructions. iam using kental 0.25 wire attempting to get to 1.8-2.0 ohm using 9 wraps. (using 2mm screw driver) at first i was getting 0.6, 0.2 or around there. (told this was likely shorting) got myself a decent pair to tweezers and a blow torch and have had a little more sucess and have useable coils. (hopefully)
did the same today with 2 coils today 9 wraps and they are now coming out at around 2.9 -3 ohms ! tried another and with 7 wraps and it came out at 2.4 but there wasnt much of it. Tried another with 6 wraps and was tiny and came out too low at 0.6.
on a variable voltage mode i assume these will be ok to use but would like to get them to 1.8 - 2.0 ohms.
pleased i have got closer and added cotton wool and will try soon.
any further idea's on why they are coming out at 2.9-3.0 ohms. ??????

I use something thinner that fits in the slots of the head, you can then wrap a coil on it, torch and squeeze it, stick it back on and use it to hold the coil in the right place while you deal with the ends. Once that all done you can use whatever you have to move the coil side to side to get it centred so it doesn't short.

Should bring you ohms down a bit too.

To be honest I found the easier and far better way of rebuilding these heads is using premade wires I get from stealth vape (yes I know cheaper on FT but they use nichrome not kanthal which gives me funny taste) the advantage of these wires is the no-resistance part of wire goes into the rubber so no more burnt taste from that plus you can pretty much guarantee ohm's as they are made to that ohm. you get 50 wires in a pack and that should last a long time using them in pro-tanks.

The fun is having a great vape without the burnt rubber or headache from trying to many bad builds. I use a 18gauge syringe needle to build my coils, fits in the head perfectly while you are reassembling the head

They are premade no-resistance/resistance wires you still have to coil yourself. Once I found these I use them in pretty much everything now Kayfun, taifun gt, pro-tanks 1.2.3 and my faithful vivi nova. Here is a link you can chose ohm's premade wires.

clivealive1 use a 1.5mm former rather then 2mm 7 wraps of 0.25 on 1.5mm former should come out at around 1.8 ohms and 9 wraps 2.2 ohms in a protank hard

When building those types of coils I just check the ohms, wick it and wet it with juice then test it but only briefly.
