Ive been thoroughly enjoying my vamos, svd's, MVP and ego twists since sep 13.
But ( wrongly or rightly) I feel like I will get that extra dense and flavoursome vape if I use a mech mod with my Russian or kayfun.
So can anyone recommend a cheap and reliable mech mod on which I can try it and leave it ( if I don't like it) without breaking the bank.
Thank you mr p.
Ps if you've got something not being used we can always talk via pm re ££

Can definitely recommend a Smok Magneto. Telescopic, less than £35 and built to last.

The magneto is supposed to be quite good, but if you dont mind a clone then I strongly suggest an hcigar nemesis, available from places such as vapegeek, or keep an eye on the classifieds. They're much cheaper on fasttech if you can stand the wait, and should you not like it you will have an easy sale.
However, a mech mod is just a tube with a battery in it, it will do nothing to or for your vape, and you'll need to build a coil that will work within the wattage range that you like. Also, stay safe with your batteries as there is no protection.
Having said that, they're smaller and IMO prettier than any of the vw mods out there, so don't let me put you off!

Cheers guys , at the moment I'm wrapping 1.8 ohm coils ( I think it's 28 gauge) do I need to buy a different gauge kanthal to get lower ohms to get the most out a mech mod? Or does it really not matter?

Or does it really not matter? It depends what wattage you like to vape at, and how many coils you're currently using. Less coils = lower resistance. Use a watts law calculator to find out what the power will be throughout your battery life: www.crownaudio.com/ohms-law.htmso you can see, with a 1.8ohm coil, with a fresh battery you will be vaping at just shy of 10w, but by the time the battery gets to 3.7v you'll only be getting 7.6w. You may choose to build a lower resistance coil to get the power where you want it.

The hcigar nemmy is superb, love mine, quality is really good. I tend to use mine in the 18350 mode with the kayfiun/russian with a 1.2 ohm chimney coil build it's great.

That's not a very good chart, 1.2ohms and a fresh battery on a mech mod is excellent and safe but according to that chart it's in the red, must just be aimed at nichrome and solder.

Well if you take into account the small drop in volts you always get and say the battery is 4 volts, coil is 1.2 ohms, that's only 3.3amps and 13.3 watts which is well and truly safe. If you use like a 0.5 ohm coil then you're talking 8 amps and 32 watts which may well be out with the batteries safe tolerances and that can be dodgy. Most battery specs can be found online though. Go check out battery specs and youtube vids or that, loads of info around on what's what. But other than that you'll notice at the bottom of that page you posted it says quite clearly it may melt nichrome or solder so I can only presume that's what it's aimed at. Kanthal doesn't melt at that level.

Duh! it clearly says " Power level may melt nichrome wire or solder" inside the red box And btw just in case you think that everybody uses Kanthal wire these days, all of the wire that a lot of our members buy from The Lucky Bag Shop is Nichrome wire

Kanthal doesn't melt at that level. At some point i agreed with you.But like a beginner what i am i have to be careful. In my house i can make any experiments i like ,doesn't matter how dangerous could be ,Most of videos from youtube are made from a ''pro'' guy ,In real life we all like to do an experiment ,that's the reason i give an advice with low limits, because he will try (100%) to increase this limits ,for better vapour production etc..Also is written there in green color Atomizer life ,low limits give to you a long life of atomizer (50% true in my opinion) ,impurities from juice or sweet juice will decrease the life of atomizer.About batteries or coils : i didn't see until now on any website any advice about ambient temperature ,what perform good at 26 degree Celsius will not perform the same at 36 or minus 5 for example. In time i will be a pro like you or like many other guys from here.....but for the moment i work with low levels.
