You seem to know a lot about horse racing clivealive1 ? Personally I would like to see it banned, I am not a horse lover but an animal lover, and to my mind it is cruelty at it's best at it's worst it is barbaric, wonder how many poor horses are going to lose their lives this year...in the name of Sport.? I'm not a racing fan, although I am an animal lover, but I don't think it is fair to write the sport off as cruel and barbaric. Were the horses not as well looked after, then maybe, but almost all are treated brilliantly. You also have to consider the fact that the horses were bred and trained to race and enjoy what they do. I have nothing against racing horses at all, it is just these sometimes impossible hurdles they are jumping in the Grand N :Dational.

In that case last year should have put your mind at rest a little. No fatalities suggests that none of the hurdles were all but impossible.

My heart fancies teaforthree, and as the national anything can happen I will be having a cheeky little punt on him. I don't check it properly until the day before, by then you have more info on ground conditions.

I don't usually have a read and make my picks until the morning of the race. Will be the same this year and I because I'm reckless, I'll pick 3 or 4 on the day.

Reckless picks i.e no knowledge required - fun bets, dutch them all -
Walkon - for all Liverpool fans
Teaforthree- have a soft spot for him
Tidal Bay - age against him its now or never.
The national is anyones though as a faller, poor jump, bad jockey move, loose horse all affects it so perhaps one of those could win. I pray that there are no serious injuries to horses, and that the starter doesn't bugger it up , that affects the race and the horses so much.
